Trumpery!

Given that he has about fifty days to go, and can do a whole lotta crazy things in that time, I thought it might be good to have a thread, separate from the election one, where we can discuss the TrumpWorld and talk about the madcap decisions made by the man who is currently still the most powerful in the world.

I hear he, or someone in his administration, is now offering presidential pardons for cash. Surely if that can be proven it has to break some law, something in the constitution, something about using the executive office for your own gain?

Note: I will be upfront and admit that all my news comes from CNN, so if I get something wrong I'm sure one of you more politically-woke people will let me know.

...

Can you tell me what the term „trumpery“ means?

Perhaps it is more interesting what Trump does after these 50 days. Perhaps he will go on as a youtube influencer and superspreader of conspiracy theories. :)

I think Trump will produce a lot of stuff for comedians.

Trumpery: noun - meaning: any activity promoted by, indulged in by or as a result of anything the 45th President of the USA did after he lost the election in 2020. Trumpery includes, but is not limited to, rants, tweets, firings, hirings, withdrawals from treaties, spreading rumours, holding superspreader Coronavirus events, pardons and strange changes to US law.

I think a lot of US and non-US people have been surprised at how much good governmental conduct is just based on traditional norms that people follow. Trump has shown the extent to which such guard rails just fall over if you give them a push.

Ones that surprised me:-

Trading off tax-payers' money to get yourself a political favour from Ukraine.
Because The Pres can't be indicted, he can't be accused of a crime. (Mueller)
The Hatch Act: it's illegal for federal employees to use their office to promote commercial brands, but if they do, that's ok too. Kellyanne Conway was the first to show what a papertiger this Act was, which opened the doors to these shameless Federal employees:-

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...RiDdA&usqp=CAU

All the "emmoluments" laws also seem to be, like the Hatch Act, completely toothless."This is illegal, and if you do it, we'll let you. So there."

(Note: some legislative details may have been simplified in the writing of this post.)

It's hard to believe Trump going to Georgia (Devil went down to Georgia, eh?) is going to help the two senators there keep their seats. I mean, he is guaranteed to start yowling about the election being rigged, which is going to make it hard for Republican voters to trust the process, so why bother? Plus you have that basket-case lawyer actually advising people not to vote! And he hasn't spoken about that, either to support or overrule her! So what are they supposed to think? Could be the worst move he could make. Let's hope so, then maybe the Dems can get control of the senate and the stupid, plastic, ****-eating grins will be wiped off the faces of those two ****s when they lose their seats.

From CNN:

President Donald Trump on Saturday called Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, pushing him to convince state legislators to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's win in the state.

Trump asked Kemp to call a special session and convince state legislators to select their own electors that would support him, according to a source familiar with the conversation. He also asked the Republican governor to order an audit of absentee ballot signatures.

Kemp explained that he did not have this authority and denied the request, the source said.

Honestly. what did he expect??

Donald Trump is mentally ill. Probably with dementia, possibly frontal lobe dementia. That's in addition to being a sociopath with narcissistic personality disorder.

I cannot emphasize this enough. The whole craziness surrounding Donald Trump is that you have a fanatical, brainwashed cult comprising at least 1/4 of the population who cream their pants over just about everything Trump does or says. But the thing is, this cult is worshipping a mentally ill man. It is JUST like Charles Manson or Jim Jones, writ large. Sadly, it seems deranged people are more likely to have cult followings than normal people.

Here are some links to peruse. If you want to read just one of them, read the last, it's the most detailed and comprehensive:

Trump’s mental pathology, confirmed
Quote:

In late September, more than 100 senior mental health experts went on video record to announce that Donald Trump was too psychologically dangerous and mentally unfit to qualify for the presidency or candidacy for reelection. More than a week ago, we held an emergency interdisciplinary conference that followed up on to our earlier National Press Club conference, broadcast in full on C-SPAN, which brought together 13 of the nation’s top experts in fields as diverse as psychiatry, law, history, political science, economics, social psychology, journalism, climate science and nuclear science. We emphasized the expansion of dangers into all domains and the need for fit leadership.
Transition warning: Trump's mental illness is a growing danger
Quote:

As the world celebrated a Biden-Harris victory, mental health professionals braced for the two-and-a-half months that we deemed would be the most dangerous period of this presidency. Indeed, in just the days since announcement of election results, Donald Trump has refused to concede, has obstructed a peaceful transfer of power, has fired and replaced top officials responsible for the nation’s security, and has contemplated catastrophic war. All this is on top of ignoring a surging pandemic that is now infecting more than 150,000 per day and killing more than 1,500 Americans per day.

Since Donald Trump’s election, mental health professionals have come forth in historically unprecedented ways to warn against entrusting the U.S. presidency to someone exhibiting dangerous mental impairments. We held an ethics conference with the most highly respected psychiatrists in the country to ensure a solid ethical basis for speaking up. We then published "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 37 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President," which became an unprecedented bestseller of its kind, and donated all proceeds from the book to remove conflicts of interest.
Trump's cognitive deficits seem worse. We need to know if he has dementia: Psychologist
Quote:

If Donald Trump were your father, you would run, not walk, to a neurologist for an evaluation of his cognitive health. You don’t have to be a doctor to see something is very wrong. “He reminds me of Uncle Bruce in so many ways,” said my aunt, who nursed her brother through Alzheimer’s disease. Joe Scarborough, who has known Trump for years, said in 2017 that Trump's mental confusion reminded him of his mother, who had Alzheimer's for 10 years. “It's getting worse, and not a single person who works for him doesn’t know he has early signs of dementia,” he said of Trump last year on his MSNBC show.

To mental health professionals like me, the red flags are waving wildly. In January 2018, over 70 of us wrote a letter to the president’s physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, urging him to administer a cognitive exam during the president’s physical because we had seen a marked deterioration in his verbal functioning, possibly due to cognitive decline.
I’m a brain specialist. I think Trump should be tested for a degenerative brain disease
Quote:

Every day of my working life, I evaluate people with brain injuries. It falls to me to make decisions about what is normal and what is not, what can improve and what will not, whether or not my patients can work, what kind of work they can do, and pretty much everything else.

In turning my attention to the president, I see worrisome symptoms that fall into three main categories: problems with language and executive function; problems with social cognition and behavior; and problems with memory, attention, and concentration. None of these are symptoms of being a bad or mean person. Nor do they require spelunking into the depths of his psyche to understand. Instead, they raise concern for a neurocognitive disease process in the same sense that wheezing raises the alarm for asthma.

Compare what you see of Trump now compared to 21 years ago. He actually sounded quite sane back then. He is clearly NOT the same person now.

I often wonder if the Covid infection did something to his brain? It's terrificly scary that a madman could lead a country - well, many madmen lead countries, but the most powerful country in the world - over a cliff and into who knows? Armageddon? I say the words again: bunker mentality leading to a desire for Gottedamerung.... :yikes:

No. Some of those links I posted above are 3 years old. People have been observing he probably had dementia since even before he was elected. One guy whose twitter account I follow said he could tell he had dementia in 2015, and probably first started showing signs of it around 2012.

Yes I understand that, but Covid could have sped up the deterioration. I mean, it's very suspect that he came out of it supposedly unscathed while people like Chris Christie had "terrible illness". He's not ****ing Superman, no matter how much he claims he is.

I'm not noticing much difference in his speech patterns or anything else pre-COVID vd post-COVID. He was pretty demented before he got it, and now he's still demented.

1. Is his forehead convex or concave? Cause if it's the latter it reminds me of a lunar crater.

2. Guinness is great. I have in the past participated in "The Great Guinness Toast" back in the halcyon days when pubs & bars were allowed to be crowded.

As Donald Trump’s presidency winds down, his administration is ratcheting up the pace of federal executions despite a surge of coronavirus cases in prisons, announcing plans for five starting Thursday and concluding just days before the Jan. 20 inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.

If the five go off as planned, it will make 13 executions since July when the Republican administration resumed putting inmates to death after a 17-year hiatus and will cement Trump’s legacy as the most prolific execution president in over 130 years. He’ll leave office having executed about a quarter of all federal death-row prisoners, despite waning support for capital punishment among both Democrats and Republicans.

You know what this reminds me of? As the Allies pushed further and further across Europe and came across the concentration camps, the Nazis made a point of killing as many of the prisoners as they could, sometimes force-marching them away from the camp to be killed, sometimes even mass-executing them as the Allies were at the gates of the camp.

The Supreme Court has denied a request from Pennsylvania Republicans to block certification of the state's election results, delivering a near fatal blow to the GOP's long-shot bid to invalidate President-elect Joe Biden's victory.

And now we have the ongoing Trump show. This season's shocking finale: will the brave soon-to-be-ex-President and his stoner buddies sorry fellow Republican AGs and senators manage to defeat the evil hordes of Biden and the Democrats, fulfilling the destiny sworn on a bloody sword (not his blood of course; some homeless guy, probably black) by his father when he was a boy: YOU WILL NEVER LOSE?

Stay tuned.

And now a word from our sponsors:

Deep in the heart of Texas.
So you and I will to SCOTUS fly
