^ Well, that was weird!
I had zero idea that there was a story about Biden plagiarising Kinnock, but it seems to have been a slip in just one speech only, at least according to this news report I have just read:- https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...n-1987-scandal Biden was quoting, and crediting Kinnock in several speeches, but on one important occasion forgot to do the crediting bit: "an honest mistake" according to Kinnock, who has nothing but kind words for Biden.

I remember being pissed about it too. I was actually supporting Biden in 1988. Back then, he was young and had the idealism of a Kennedy. I was really excited. Then the Kinnock incident came out and the press, who had nothing else to do apparently, was all over it. Biden was forced to withdraw and I became something of a cynic ever since.
And, yes, Kinnock said some very nice things about Biden. Even better, I have a book called the Next President. David Frost interviewed all the candidates at the time, including Biden. When Frost got to Al Gore, Biden had already dropped out. Gore, after feeling sympathy for Biden, noted that John Kennedy's Ask not what your country can do for you quote was actually ripped off from Khalil Gibran. Interesting, eh? |

Plagiarism is nothing new north of the border. Because we have three parties, one is always ripping off policies from the others. Once that happens, promises become more of a bidding war. For example, one party said they were going to plant x million trees. The next party said they would plant way more than that, and so on.
Plagiarism is almost a prerequisite. Is the president still somewhat popular? He's not in the news much here of late. The last story I read with him mentioned was an opinion piece. The writer suggested that Biden has contributed more to our economic woes than Trudeau. Yes, we're joined at the hip, but I don't know it's all that accurate. There are way too many factors, way too many bad decisions, to pin the blame on one person. https://tnc.news/2022/06/24/bonokoski-biden/ |

^ Yes this issue seems to be really hurting Biden, even though:-
(Obviously an old graphic, dating to the good old days of $4.66) Do voters think that by not supporting the Dems, the price at the pumps will drop? I think they may be in for a disappointment.

I think they think the reverse. Vote for the RepublicNazis, get someone like Trump or DeSantis or the resident madwoman, MTG, in, they'll reverse American policy on Russia, cozy up to Putin, Putin will say "Aw, I can't hold gas supplies from YOU guys!" *blush*, America will be able to buy Russian gas, prices will drop and the rest of the world can **** off.
Didn't I already wonder how the response to the war would have gone had Trump legitimately won a second term? I think we all know what a prick who says "this is Europe's problem" and who is bum-buddies with Vlad would have to say.

^ Petro-chem giants gonna do what petro-chem giants gonna do
![]() I thought the phrase "at or near their peaks" was interesting as petrol prices always trend upwards over time, don't they? If so, they are perpetually "at or near their peaks" I suspect. Today's peak will be tomorrow's "Remember when it was only...?" Quote:
![]() But yeah, hard to be polite about Trump, who by his own admission said, "Oh, wonderful!" when he heard the news of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Ah, bollocks to that! The time for circumcision is over. We have to grasp the root of the problem and hold the prick to account. He's just a wanker and he may think he's going hard on Ukraine but his war is just a load of balls. He expects us to all bow down and give him head...lines, and while that may take spunk, he's just trying to shaft us all. Bit of a cock-up if you ask me. Urethra stories about the latest attacks? What a dick.
