Also you're steering away from what I think lisna's point is. It doesn't matter if only you came up with those expectations or a bunch of other people; the question is whether she claimed to be all that, or if it's an unfair expectation from others. I don't claim to know the answer to that btw, I don't know much about her
The idea that the impact of an activist trying to avert a global catastrophe should be measured in strict accordance with the precise wording of her speeches and NOT in view of, you know, the larger context is too dumb for you to entertain, Marie. Leave it to the pensioner.

You also have to worry about natural disasters like the tsunami in Japan some years ago as well as the possible terrorist threats. I'm not against nuclear power either but we do have to be cognizant that we still have risks.

I'm trying to get banned, ok? The academic year over here starts in a week and a half and I've already wasted all the time I can afford here.

Well if you're just wasting time here, just leave. Why do you have to get banned?

You're not wrong - I suppose the gambit is that by prioritizing nuclear power, we'll gain a focus on the processes that will result in (hopefully) an optimization of the process to mitigate, as much as possible, environmental damage (and hopefully more funded R&D on it) and that the net effect will be less emissions and less death and pollution.

As for the incentive to sell the waste for weapons, I'm not sure how to solve for that. One would hope that the government could tighten the screws and restrict that sort of thing, but that idealism is, of course, somewhat removed from reality and the incentives.

Completely agreed. I think we can solve for most of the risks though.

That's not really my point. She's young, and no expert or anything, so if she just wants to stick with what she can do and is effective at it, like call attention to climate change without pretending to be able to offer solutions, I don't think we should be too hard on her for not offering those solutions (but again, I don't know if that's what she's doing). It's not about assessing people's impact in a relative way, according to their promises; I'm not talking about any objective measure of impact. It's just pointless to reproach someone for not doing something they can't and never promised, but recognising that doesn't mean you think their achievents are equal to someone who can do those things.
