No wonder this place has a bad reputation on Music-Discussion.

This really isn't about you. It's about the perspective. You're not the only one with it. Read the thread. Others have the same one. I'm getting at what we actually accept this thread to be, and how f*cking hypocritical people are being.

This isn't hard. It's very simple.

For the record, I have apologized for what I consider now to be my overly sensitive reaction to the dead horse that's now being beaten and am on good terms with Freebase having reached an understanding privately. Please don't bring me up again in this conversation. (I wouldn't have said anything here if not for the fact that my name's been mentioned already.)

Because as to date I haven't seen a male member ripped into for their looks. I don't think men deserve it either. I never mean't to imply otherwise. There, happy?

I sexually Identify as an Attack Helicopter. Ever since I was a boy I dreamed of soaring over the oilfields dropping hot sticky loads on disgusting foreigners. People say to me that a person being a helicopter is Impossible and I'm ****ing retarded but I don't care, I'm beautiful. I'm having a plastic surgeon install rotary blades, 30 mm cannons and AMG-114 Hellfire missiles on my body. From now on I want you guys to call me "Apache" and respect my right to kill from above and kill needlessly. If you can't accept me you're a heliphobe and need to check your vehicle privilege. Thank you for being so understanding.

If you've some innate distaste of "trannies", then I imagine you'd have that connotation. My original comment wasn't out of distaste for them, rather than the obviousness of a man in a woman's garb and appearance.

I say you have the problem if you think I meant "tranny" as an insult. You basically assumed I'm against that sort of thing. Nice work, but you're not that good.

High five girl.

I was SO impressed with your handling of it, and I really do think so highly of you particularly because of that. My feelings about short hair are irrelevant to your life. I'm glad you know that.

So your issue is that only women seem to get comments about their looks? How is that my fault?

GuD 12-28-2014 08:40 PM

Given the seemingly intentionally hurtful nature of your post and the frequent use of the word 'tarnny' as a transphobic slur, yes. I did assume that. Assuming that about you is not far fetched but assuming someone has something against transgendered peoples because they called you out on what I did, whether or accurately or not, is pretty far fetched. Again, you're deflecting.

This thread is one of the staple threads of MB from what I've seen, I wouldn't ever get rid of it, and drama maybe isn't something that should always be avoided.

yea i would say i'm willing to go out on a limb and say i think masculinity in women is unattractive to me, looks wise. i have seen some pretty convincing trannies but tbh the fact that they have a penis is sort of a turn off for me. just a personal preference that i have. i know everyone has their preferences, one of mine is that i like my women to have vaginas. kind of weird i know but i dunno i was just born this way i guess,

I was unaware that "tranny" was a slur. If it is, I will refrain. I don't typically look at transgendered people in a negative way. I guess it's just a short way to refer to them.

If your whole beef is about me using that word, I will concede this to you. However, if it's simply a red herring to distract from the fact that it is totally irrelevant to my ability to have an opinion in this thread about a girl that looks like she's a man, then you can basically go fuck yourself.

Happy new year.

I never said you couldn't voice your opinion, I was just voicing my opinion that yours is gross. And yes, trannies is typically regarded as about as offensive as shemales. Which is to say pretty offensive.

Also, your can-do-no-wrong attitude throughout this thread has been pretty gross as well.

Okay this is not nice coming from a mod. I'm killing the discussion because it's getting out of hand. I guess we can't discuss things like adults on this forum.

Opinion noted. And I will take into consideration that such a term is offensive. When I'm not posting in this thread.

Machine 12-28-2014 08:48 PM

I'm kind of butting in here, but about the whole drama thing I think if you come to thread expect to not always have the nicest things being said, not saying that being mean is a good thing just that you should come into this thread taking everything with a bit more of a grain of salt and be ready to laugh something that might normally offend you off.

Aww, that was my bad. That was the answer to the alternative. I probably should have constructed that better. My bad! Consider me scorned.

John Wilkes Booth 12-28-2014 08:50 PM

thats kind of strange to me how transgendered isn't offensive but tranny is. like more syllables/more proper sounding somehow dictates the respect being given to the people you're describing. what if people started saying transgendered in a really snarky tone. maybe then that will be offensive too... i wonder

Anything can be offensive if people associate a negative connotation on it, which is fucking stupid.

You are correct. But I guess it's the same reason non-cursing folks say shucks instead of shit. The intent behind the word is the same, but the word itself is associated or not associated with what we understand as a socially unacceptable word. Which is why I laugh internally when someone says "shucks", because they have no earthly clue that they're cursing. I mean, whatever god they worship certainly doesn't operate on a blacklist of human words. It really all boils down to societal perspective. That's it.

GuD 12-28-2014 08:54 PM

I can't speak for everyone but I'd consider it belittling or dismissive. People who are transgendered generally prefer to be referred to as the gender they identify with. "Trannys" just conjures up the image of cheap porno.

Very good point. If we should all come to an agreement that this thread should be removed, or at least prefaced with some sort of threshold of honesty allowed, then let's take a vote.

Or, we can disallow mods from posting in the thread and keep it open. But of course, you do realize how ridiculous that actually is.

In regards to the word 'tranny', this is very easy for someone who I'm assuming is cisgendered to say. If you've ever dealt with being transgendered and harassed, you'd understand. It's used as hatespeech very often and I'm kinda surprised you don't know that, you seem like a smart enough person to realize something that obvious.

I'm saying that this thread should not result in drawn-out arguments. Those should be taken to PMs. If I'd seen this ****storm in the new posts when I signed up, I can guarantee I wouldn't have been coming back to post.
