I'd never heard of the word "math" until I joined a forum with North Americans on it. I'm not sure was Australians or New Zealanders would say, but I'd say they use the correct word maths as well, instead of the Americanized math.

its referring to multiple disciplines.

e.g. Statistics, Calculus, Algebra, and Geometry. So I did well int he maths.
