I really like them. Does anyone else share my love? Official release date for their debut album is March 18th.

GravitySlips 03-12-2008 11:06 AM

I like them quite a lot, yeah. Sometimes the vox get a bit grating, but generally they're awesome.

Seeing them live in May as well :)

Rubber 03-12-2008 01:49 PM

I was going to see them last month but things didn't work out =/

GravitySlips 03-12-2008 03:43 PM

no luck.

I've got quite a few good electro shows coming up...The Whip, Digitalism, MSTRKRFT, Crystal Castles and Simian Mobile Disco. Much dancing will be done!

Molecules 03-12-2008 03:54 PM

i like their instrumental work, their artwork is good, but godammit I hate scenesters. Crystal Castles are like something straight out of Nathan Barley. i'll save my Vice rant for another time :D

Are you serious? It's probably bigger in LA alone than it is in all of Europe combined. You've got guys like Steve Aoki making this **** popular all over the place, and it seems like everyone and their mother is in love with Justice. I mean, just look at the Coachella lineup this year. They basically got the entire rosters of Modular, Ed Banger, and Institubes records, not to mention all the Indie/Dance groups they got like Hot Chip, etc. Compare that to the rest of the dance music on the lineup and it's obvious which genre is more popular. So, yeah, I’d say Electro House has basically taken over the US. Even without Coachella, I've had the chance to see MSTRKRFT, Crystal Castles, and Digitalism within recent months, so maybe this stuff isn't big in Boston, but it certainly is elsewhere. Last I checked Boston wasn't really a hotbed for dance music anyway.

Crystal Castles is ok. I really liked them when I first heard them ages ago, but it seems like the more they release the less I like them. I saw them live in October and they weren't really that good, either.

enemyat_thesix 03-21-2008 10:19 AM

yeah, california is pretty far away from boston. the only electronic hubs on the east coast are miami and ny city, and i'm in boston

pheurton 03-21-2008 01:47 PM

Why associate yourself with the klaxons =o

Friday 03-27-2008 02:34 AM

I think I'd take Kitsune stuff over DFA myself.

Crystal Castles have been knocking around for a good two years.
Now every teen wants to say they're into them because they saw them on 'Skins'.

Klaxons are awesome. Maybe that's why.

pheurton 03-27-2008 09:48 AM

You don't feel dirty listening to them?

noappendix 04-03-2008 03:02 PM

their songs sound like theme songs from japanese console games, i love it

that's why i bought the album. it makes me feel filthy as hell.

Crystal Castles is right now my favorite band, i bought the album and have their entire song discography. not touching the vinyls, screw that. but the album is pure genius, especially Untrust Us and Black Panther, best songs they've made so far.

enemyat_thesix 04-06-2008 11:41 AM

black panther is a tight song. this band is good but their sound is nothing new, as some reviewers and critics are claiming

Sigh, I'm sick of people who've never been here assuming they know what's going on.

GuitarBizarre 04-06-2008 01:14 PM

You forget, to most of the rest of the world 'Europe' is an umbrella term for 'England france germany and a few other obscure contries like denmark.'

Of course, if you're talking to someone who remembers WWII they might extend that to 'England France Germany and a few other obscure countries like Denmark. And Poland.'

Hey, speaking of assumptions! Besides, it's not like you need to go to Europe to understand the music scene in just about any country. As I told enemyatthesix, using nothing but Google blog search I could probably tell you more about what's happening in Croatia than you could. Oh, the wonders of the internet!

And you've probably never been to LA, so you know, STFU. Busy P and and the Ed Banger guys probably spend more time here than they do in Paris.

 Jesus, you people just can't admit to being wrong. Unless you've actually lived here a few years, I'm betting you don't really know the status electronic music has. I live in a town of 200 thousand and it has many more clubs that play electronic music than rock. The only artists that come here are electro acts...we even have a whole festival of electronic music. And this is just Croatia, the fucking backwater. I can't even imagine what they have going on in Germany or France.

So pretty please, admit you exaggerated, just this once...?http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...bigsadeyes.gif

enemyat_thesix 04-06-2008 01:42 PM

hey let's talk about how much Justice sucks

sleepy jack 04-06-2008 02:19 PM

Hey lets talk about how many infractions completely off topic pointless trolling with get you!

Maybe if you'd read my post more carefully you'd know that we were talking about Electro House, and not Electronic music is a whole. Hey, no **** Germany probably has more clubs in Berlin than all of California combined, but we're talking about one specific sub-genre, that happens to be more popular here than practically anywhere else. I mean, Justice came to LA 5 times in 6 months. Where outside of Paris would that ever occur (and I don't think it even happened there).

Besides, most Europeans seem to forget that House and Techno were invented here. Croatia probably wouldn't have ANY electronic festival if it weren't for Chicago and Detroit.

enemyat_thesix 04-06-2008 11:35 PM

ya u tell him brah

I don't doubt that L.A. is down with electro, but to say it's bigger there than in the whole of Europe combined is still an exaggeration, given the amount of gigs such acts have in Europe...:\

Did anyone ever question that? Europe still has the biggest electro acts right now. So you know, stick that in your pipe and smoke it...;)

yeah ed banger is a french label is it not

Malicious Wakizashi 04-08-2008 05:02 PM

Crystal Castles is pretty good I dig the Atari-esque sounds they crank out
though the vocals bother me sometimes its a bit too squeely. She sounds
like the Blonde Redhead vocalist on some PCP.

I still think that if you walk down the street in LA you're far more likely to find a Justice, MSTRKRFT, or whoever fan than walking down the street in Croatia.

adidasss 04-08-2008 06:26 PM

No shit. Congratulations on comparing one of the most famous cities in the world and the cultural mecca of the American west with an ex-commie Balkan country...:rolleyes:

Says the guy that bragged about the fact that his teensy little 200,000 person town has more clubs that rock venues and it's very own electronic music festival!

Besides, you knew what I was trying to say.

That was more bitching than bragging actually.

enemyat_thesix 04-10-2008 07:08 AM

the point of all this being, "Black Panther" is a great ****ing song

IndiElectronica 04-10-2008 12:19 PM

quite like them... just got album a couple weeeks ago and still listening every few days...

cork 10-16-2008 01:41 PM

Crystal Castles

What do you guys think about Crystal Castles because I think they are pretty dam awesome.

joyboyo53 10-16-2008 04:25 PM

Although I really love a couple of the tracks (alice practice & air war), I still think they have a lot of room to make improvements.

cork 10-17-2008 02:11 AM

Untrust Us is defiantly my favorite song from them

Malicious Wakizashi 10-22-2008 02:39 PM

I really like the Health vs CC song crimewave.

DearJenny 10-23-2008 01:48 PM

They're music is like old-school video game tunes on heroine. Its awesome.

joyboyo53 10-23-2008 05:31 PM

Thats because they use sound bits from atari games. Their name also likely comes from the arcade game "Crystal Castles". I think I read somewhere that it actually refers to She-Ras (He-Mans spinoff) castle

Roygbiv 11-06-2008 11:55 AM

I was misled into buying their debut full length and thus hated it, though I knew they got something when I started putting "Magic Spells" on repeat.

That would explain it. Listening to it reminds me of playing kirby. And one of my friends, before I even mentioned anything, asked me if it was a old school "duck hunt" remix.

I miss duck hunt....
