My copy of SAW 85-92 doesn't sound that bad at all. I hear no crackles or anything of that sort. I don't know, I'm not really about production and it wouldn't impair or limit my ability to enjoy good music. If you could point out where and when in the song you feel that it could do for a major overhaul production wise, then would you? I just don't see it, it just sounds amazing to me. Granted being hosted on youtube will almost certainly (and it does) fuck up the quality of the audio itself, but it sounds amazing with headphones in 320kbs. |
i only have Selected Ambient Works 1 and 2 and The Richard D. James Album
they're all pretty good in their own way |

This version is a bit flat compared to the album version, not even half a step down, maybe 1/8 a step? Here's that prepared piano piece that was most certainly inspired by Cage. And of course we have awesome tracks like this that is expected of Richard. The ending requires a pair of good headphones and cranked volume. |
^^sounds interesting
i like the last track the best will check it out |
Druqks is OK, prefer ...I Care Because You Do and Richard D. James album however if we're talking about LPs. Druqks goes on a bit too much for me.
|
No, he should get Windowlicker. It's his best song.
|
Ah, we have a thread on him? Ricky D. James is one of my favourites, if not my absolute favourite electronic artists of all time. I'd say Burial, Four Tet and Boys Noize are the only men that can hold a candle to him, and they're mostly very different musicians in their styles, so I don't really compare them.
Fun fact: I actually got into Aphex through an internet article about easter eggs in kusic, talking about his spectograph imprint on Equation. Maybe it was my inner love for pretentious song titles and general weirdness, but I decided to check him out properly, heard some of Druckqs, and was hooked forever. |

The Flashbulb |
Only problem with The Flashbulb is that silly jazz stuff.
|
Some of his tracks are really good, but I can't take aesthetic of his music videos, except Daddy
|
just got Drukqs and I care because you do
both pretty good |
Alarm Will Sound produced an album of full orchestral arrangements of Aphex Twin's songs called Acoustica: Alarm Will Sound Performs Aphex Twin. For anyone who's never heard it, it's absolutely amazing.

This might be one of the most peaceful/beautiful songs I've ever. |
having relistened to Druqks, i still think his minimalist ambient stuff's the best
|
His ambient works are great sleepy time music. I don't listen to him a TON, but there's always a soft place in my heart for 'Come to Daddy' and some of the stuff off Richard D. James album. Also some of his way older stuff, like Mike & Rich, are always great listens.

If you're ever after a way to get in it, you could always try the Analord Series. 4, 8 and 10 are personal favourites. |
Holy crap, there's some range. Some of my favorite Aphex Tracks at the moment. I don't really know if The Tuss is Richard or not, but there are too many signs pointing to "YES, RICHARD IS THE TUSS" to not say there isn't a possibility, no? |
The Richard D. James album is what made me get into electricronic music, such a wide range of sound, it just shows the endless possibilities.
My favorite tracks off the album: ughhh listening through Youtube and laptop speakers is complete ****!!! |
aphex twin is surely one artist you never forget! my first purchase.. :D
http://a2.twimg.com/profile_images/1...dow_licker.jpg There are some things that are best left misunderstood  I think his best album is Selected Ambient Works 85–92 |
Listening to Drukqs almost every day at work, tremendous stuff.
|
Okay something interesting has been floating around recently. This could very well be a hoax, but it is certainly very strange and it seems like a lot of effort was put into this:
kroniktronikboy - Aphex Twin - Unreleased Ambient Works 1985-2012 | Mixcloud - Re-think radio It sounds like him but not quite, and everything on Google seems to trace back to this Kroniktronikboy guy. Anybody else know anything about this? |

On further listen I'm wondering if this isn't a remix of sorts. Check the track around 49-50 minutes. That most definitely sounds like a twist on Domino from the SAW2 discs. |
i think 'Drukqs' is the most unique and brilliant, the split personality between the drill'n'bass tracks and the prepared piano pieces is amazing. but i'm sure i listen to 'i care because you do' more often.

An alleged test pressing of Aphex Twin’s unreleased Caustic Window album is on Discogs for $13,500 – FACT Magazine: Music News, New Music.
I remember seeing this pop in my wanted list on discogs. I nearly shat myself, but I'm not involved in the WATMM community because I suck at keeping a consistent online presence. I liked Caustic Window, but not nearly as much as his AFX handle. As far as output goes, the quality of each pseudonym for me is AFX > Aphex Twin > The Tuss > Caustic Window > Polygon Window > Power Pill. |
Whoops! I didn't see that there was already an Aphex Twin thread. Here's a thread a typed up about him: http://www.musicbanter.com/electroni...ve-genius.html
|
UPDATE: There is now a kickstarter for buying the record, and the actual rights to a one time distribution deal. It's gone well over the goal, but if you want to get your hands on a FLAC copy of this shizz as soon as it's given a high quality rip, get on that shit.

rubber johnny = amazing

So, are we all collectively shitting ourselves yet? |
I refuse to believe that no one is excited for the new Aphex Twin release next month. I'm stoked as a motherfucker. |

It's not out for another month?
Shit, I've had it for something like 3 weeks already. Bet that got taken down in a hurry  |
^Possibly fake transcode
|
I just found it on SoulSeek.
This is a good day. |
