I want to get into film more, and have done for some time, but I'm not sure where to start. I like a some of the classic, well-known directors, like Scorcese, The Coens, Kubrick, Hitchcock, etc. But I want to start getting into film on a more deep level.

Does anyone know any good movie downloading/torrent/streaming sites? Preferably ones that have more obscure, foreign and experimental cinema, as opposed to hollywood style crap.

If you see about 2 or more movies a week, I would suggest Netflicks (sp?) or a similar dvd mailing program like that, there is a monthly charge but it is honestly worth it. Plus as you watch more and more movies they start to make good recommendations, because I pretty much just get obscure, subtitled foreign films now that I dig a lot.

I find it difficult to sit through a 90 minute film without getting bored , yet I can happily spend 3 or 4 hours reading.

Weird that.

The last *new* film I saw was the last Star Wars film & I only went to see that because my brother in law is a huge sci fi geek and I was staying at his place at the time.So between now & then I don't think I've seen a single new movie.

I have some movies. I shall list off all the movies that I own because I'm bored. I own DiG!, Children of Men, Pulp Fiction, A Clockwork Orange, Requiem For A Dream, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Little Miss Sunshine, Sin City, The Matrix, Pi, Donnie Darko, and Reservoir Dogs, and I have a pirated copy of Pan's Labyrinth. That's about it. I've been slowly expanding my movie collection.

Good start....

Now everyone go and get a hold of anything by Shane Meadows (except for Once upon a time in the midlands, apparently that one blows)...the man's a freakin' genius.
