I've had one virus in 9 years of using a PC.And it took an hour to get rid of that.

On the other hand a friend of mine bought a mac and had to replace it twice before getting one that worked , and they're horribly overpriced.

I would never ever get a mac.

There's always going to be pros and cons to using Macs, Windows based PC or any other alternative.

The issue is that people need to know what they need and which option is going to give them that.

I completely agree.

To be honest I don't have a grudge against PCs. I own two laptops - one Mac and one PC, and there are things that I can do in one that I cannot do on the other.

Whether you get one or the other depends on your lifestyle. This will also determine how often, if at all, your PC crashes. If Urban Hatemonger's friend bought a consumer grade Mac thinking that it's as powerful as a Pro Mac or even Pro PC, then it will crash, especially when you install Bittorrent, Limewire, and such. These are factors that exist outside the Mac's hardware. Now, Urban may be taking care of his PC, never overstepping his RAM, doing work that his Processor can handle - maybe upgrading it a few times.

Macs aren't hardware. They WILL crash if you don't know how to take care of them, same with a PC. This is why Apple offers all of the lessons they do, both free AND with an annual membership cost.

It ALL goes back to WHAT you're doing, WHO you are, and WHAT you're using your computer for. And perhaps most importantly, how LONG you're planning to keep it.

The people that hate vista are the people that don't have a system capable of properly running it. I have a 2.2 dual core with 4 gig of ram in my laptop and have never had a single problem. XP gave me more problems than ME, and that's saying a lot. I have not had a single crash of any kind in the year I've had it. Vista is a memory hog, if you can feed that and processor requirements, Vista is easier to use and more stable than any other Windows.

On the argument of which is better, I vote PC. Things may change since Mac is using Intel chips. I like the ability change what I want when I want. I can upgrade, tweak, overclock, expand, etc, etc, etc... whenever I want.

When it comes to gaming, I'm pretty sure nobody can argue the benefits of a Mac.

Another picture.

Mac's are still easier to use.
I love using pictures to argue

PC's are a hell of a lot less expensive.

Veronica Lodge 11-27-2008 11:40 AM

right, but imacs also aren't $3999.

Based on the game shown in the picture, I'm guessing that the picture is a few years old.

Game on the left is far better anyway.

Then buy a nintendo games console for next to nothing ;)

Predator 11-27-2008 11:56 AM

I just checked priced for similar specs between a Mac and HP. $1300 for a PC that is configured identical to a $3200 Mac.

That was for laptops.

Veronica Lodge 11-27-2008 12:08 PM

ok, well the new macbook pros just came out and are more expensive because they are one solid case, they have the new intel chip, and they ooze awesomeness!

Predator 11-27-2008 12:33 PM

I could build a fully loaded Alienware gaming notebook for the same or less than a Macbook pro.

I'm not saying that Mac's aren't without their advantages, but the advantages they claim mean shit to me when I can't do what I want with them.
