Well first of he did'nt actually "RUN" away he kinda slithered. But the story is very true. My mom was making pop tarts in the toaster and left them in too long. So they caught on fire and the fire spreaded to the cabnets then the ceiling then all hell broke lose. My mom picked up the snake and threw it into the front yard away from the house. I guess she could'nt find him afterwards. I'm kinda of sad still. snakes are great pets. I hate cleaning their poop up though. It's dry and hard. eww. |

Perhaps I should be ashamed to say this but I really miss The Beautiful South (they split up a few years back)
I remember when I heard they had just split up due to 'musical similarities', I felt like almost crying lol which is kind of ****ed up in a way... http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/185000...t_300_scan.jpg http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/low/entertainment/189962.stm- this documents one of my favourite songs they ever did- 'Look What I've Found In My Beer'. To me they were the perfect Pop group (one of the few I actually really like- but I dont really tell many people lol) & also I think Paul Heaton is a very talented lyricist & doesnt get enough credit for it (IMO). I miss my old Jeep Grand Cherokee, she got hit by a drunk driver last summer parked outside of the house, bent the frame out of shape and everything, but at least she ****ed the drunk's Porsche up something fierce. Ugly Betty (my new Jeep Cherokee) is great, but I had a lot of memories attached to Jeep Jeep (Old Grand Cherokee).

I miss not knowing what my favourite band's best albums sound like.
I'd love to go back & hear albums like Zen Arcade , Billion Dollar Babies , Screamadelica or Machine Gun Etiquette for the first time again. |
LucasArts Adventure games.
I found my original copy of Grim Fandango (god bless my mom for not throwing it out when I moved out) and started playing it last night. Holy **** I forgot how amazing this game is, artistically it's my favorite style (calaca figures), the story is well told, the dialogue is well written and genuinely funny, the characters are well defined, and the puzzles are challenging but not to the point that I have to consult gamefaqs which leaves me with a smug feeling. If I can find it I'm going to bust out the ol' Curse of Monkey Island and totally rock the retro gaming this week. It's sad that Lucas Arts decided to axe this section in favor of fondling George Lucas for the rest of his life. This webcomic basically sums up my feelings on Lucasarts. VG Cats Comic |
Mid to late 90s alternative radio. Not saying it was the greatest radio era or anything but I happened to be a delivery driver in 97-98 so I listened to a lot of radio at the time. And I do think it was kind of an interesting and under-appreciated time period. The main thing that I liked about it was the anything goes vibe that resulted from an era with no clearly dominant musical style. There was a sense of playfulness after the dour mood of the grunge era and it seemed like older bands were experimenting more, especially in terms of adding electronic elements to their music. Big Beat, Neo-Swing, Third Wave Ska, Pop-Punk, Trip-Hop, Britpop and leftover Grunge were all tossed together in a big musical salad. Say what you will about some of these styles, I enjoyed the variety.
