Do you still buy physical albums?

I've only bought two CD's this past decade, including offline and online purchases and I have over 300 albums. Cough, cough, just wanted to get the shame out of the way.

I do have quite a few physicals, most coming from friends, siblings and my parents which, obviously has accumulated over the years but I really can't be hassled to count them all. I do remember my first CD, though - Selena, haha. But that's not the point, point is, I don't buy any media anymore. Because 1. 'I'm broke' and 2., 'If I want only one song off their album while thinking the rest should be burned, I'm not going to pay for the entire thing.'

Wait, scratch the first paragraph - I did buy a few CD's last year because I was just in a 'hey i have cash, how about i support a band for once.' I would rebuy some Cd's I already downloaded but, well. Waste.

I only purchase 1 or 2 physical CDs a year. I find myself buying individual songs much more nowadays. The way I see it, why spend $20 on a CD when you can just buy the one or two songs you want for $0.99 each?

In the past year i've found myself downloading more and more, but i still buy loads of CDs. I usually go into record shops that sell second-hand CDs with no intention of finding something in particular and come out with some cool albums. You can get great albums for €2 or €3 if you look hard enough. Plus you have superior sound quality over mp3s and you can rip the cds to whatever bit-rate you want. But in the past year i have less money to spare, and a lot of the music i want i cant seem find on cd too easily, so nowdays i mostly download.

I'm pretty shocked by the results. Not that I care what others do; I just didn't realize that physical albums were this much of a dying medium (two-to-one download over buy physical).

Unfortunatelly, because price of one CD is expensive for me. One CD in CZ is for the same price like one live concert. And sometimes I rather go to concert than buy a CD.
But I support my favourite artists so I am collecting discography of my loved bands. I try to buy CDs as much as possible and I get them also like presents.

About feelings... I prefer CD, with painting art, with lyrics... I have deeper relation to music on CD than to music somewhere inside of my computer.

I find I'll download if I'm checking out a new artist or if I can't find a cd I want cheap enough but I still love having shelves full of cds in my living room (how old fashioned does that seem nowadays?) the same way my grandad has shelves rammed full of vinyl

Good point. Nothing feels cooler than having stacks of cds on your wall. Because of the rise of downloading and the downfall of cds i actually seem to appreciate cds a lot more.

In my view cds are becoming to the download generation what vinyl was to the cd generation: cool to have a collection, a warmer and superior sound, and a nostalgic feel.

Except vinyls are much more interesting to collect than CDs. I mean, what would be the cooler collector's item, "Thick as a Brick" on LP or CD?

Neither, it's Jethro Tull for christsake

Well of course people will still be collecting vinyl, it's just that cds will have a similar feel to them in the future, maybe even fall behind vinyl.
