OMG this! I am the same, I used to party all through University but also had done so from about 14 years old (but no in clubs till 18). I got to about 23 and it sort of melted away and I enjoyed other things. My friends and I do things like movies or aqua jogging.

I have no idea how to judge how old I act. I'm 32 and I feel old. I probably shouldn't, but I do.

I act pretty much my actual age on here, but on plug I act at least 5 years younger. I mean I play Hanson every day there, for god's sake.

I don't really like the concept of 'acting your age'. I am eighteen, and that in no way affects the way I act.

It's not conscious though. I am not sure if it's the case that I 'act older' or if the way I act is just perceived as the way an older person would act. It could be pedantic but I don't know, the word 'act' just seems to imply a degree of falsity and I see myself as a fairly upfront person.

Especially from parents asking why you aren't acting your age.

I agree with your first sentence because that's about societal expectations. But I disagree with your second sentence. Neurotypical individuals are undergoing lots of brain and chemistry changes at your age. Frontal lobe myelination is still completing, sexual identity is manifesting and these carry real behavioral consequences with them.

That's not to say it's always automatically bad behavior or that you will act like every other 18 year old, but it certainly has an influence on behavior overall.

If you go by what music I like - taken the fact I like J.S. Back - my "musical taste" age would be 300 y/o at least. However I act like a 14 y/o on these here boards as not to be too haughty. No one wants likes being talked down to by some 300 y/o guy about music.
