Seems like it's probably an older law that no one is really implementing.

that could be, there are some stupid common laws on the books still that I don't think states even utilize

CanwllCorfe 05-20-2011 08:58 PM

Could be. But that still means any business CAN refuse service if they so wish. I imagine hardly anyone does, but just the fact that they legally could is quite surprising.

Here's another dumb law in our fine state: liquor and wine can only be purchased at state owned Wine & Spirits stores and these stores don't sell beer.

yeah but I highly doubt that the business owner would turn down money and would even know that the silly law exists in the first place.

Depends on your bias, honestly. I'd still find it offensive. No different from a law technically allowing store owners to oust black people from the premises.

I think it's the same here in Ontario - we have government owned liquor stores (they sell beer too but only select varieties, like international beers and such), and government owned beer stores. That's the only place where alcohol can be purchased. Whenever I'm in Montreal, I always find it weird that beer can be purchased at the corner store. And years ago, before I could actually buy alcohol, I remember being in a Costco or Walmart or something in Orange County and seeing beer and wine being sold there.

We have wine and liquor stores (owned by the state) which sell nothing else—not even limes or pretzels or anything along those lines—and close at 9pm. Then we have beer outlet stores (privately owned) which only sell cases and kegs of beer. The only places you can buy six packs of beer is over the counter in bars and the six packs are nearly twice price of six packs in other states.

coming from a bi girl, trust me, bi's exist. Sometimes people lean towards one gender more, but that doesnt make them fully gay. k? k.

Yup! I'm glad I don't drink.
