Loved Half Life 2, Silent Hill 2 and Condemned. Been meaning to play STALKER, now I've gotta wait 'til next payday before I can wrestle with my conscience over getting it off steam or not...oh well.

As for my 5, I'll have a think and come back to this thread...

My favorite survival/horror game ever. The puzzles were just challenging enough and the world just big enough to really suck you in. That, and so many different endings! I would totally play it again. Who's your favorite character?

Okaaay I guess I'll put my top 5 too since I haven't posted them yet! I'll try to pick stuff from different genres.

1. FFX
2. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage
3. Silent Hill 2
4. Kingdom Hearts
5. GTA III: San Andreas

Could well be mine too. Think it's certainly one of the strongest stories I've ever come across in a video game, and the soundtrack is all kinds of amazing too. Listening to it right this minute in fact

I'd say James is my favourite character in it. Just unraveling the mystery of his past as you play the game alone was a great experience. How about yours?

Didn't much like FFX, but the others I can vouch for. Kingdom Hearts I used to love when I was a kid.

And as for my favourites;

Devil May Cry
Doom 3
Medieval II: Total War
Prince Of Persia: the Sands Of Time
Silent Hill 2

Yeahh! I loke Akira Yamaoka. The whole soundtrack is amazing and haunting, but I think I like songs from Silent Hill 1 & 3 better. My favorite track from SH2 is "Promise (Reprise)."

Maria for the weirdness and Angela for the you-don't-know-what-the-hell-she-might-do-next effect.

I forgot about Prince Of Persia: the Sands Of Time!! Awesome game also, I never owned it but I always wanted it. I played it at a friend's house for almost two days straight one time.

They're all pretty good so far as soundtracks go. Still think 2 is my favourite overall, if not one of my favourite albums ever. The song you mention's certainly one of the most memorable. I think I remember it popping up in the 1st Silent Hill movie a lot too. Love Psalm and Theme Of Laura (both of them) would be my favourites.

I was actually going to say Angela as well. Definitely a close second. And as for Maria, that extra mini-game where you get to play as her throws a bit more light on her character, not to mention the themes of main story itself. It's been years since I last played it...I think it was called Restless Dreams or something similar.

If you use steam at all, you can get it for relatively cheap. It's definitely awesome stuff though. The environments, the writing and characterisation, it's just absolutely stellar. Also probably the best in-game camera interface that I've ever come across as well.
