How many more polls will Whiskey make?

This is a very serious situation, how many more generic and dull polls with threads are to come?

My vote is 8. When a moderator sees this please add 8 to the poll options.

Done! :p:

Freebase Dali 02-01-2013 08:15 PM

I don't see the following option:

"Whiskey had long ago set out to be the world's largest pole collector. As an admirer of poles, he sought to find and/or create as many as he could, simply to be surrounded by such a variety of poles of all lengths, girths, and hues. When he arrived here at this forum, he saw the option to create a poll in threads. 'Silly forum administrators', he thought, 'you spelled poles wrong.' He then began to create polls. But much to his dismay, nothing was happening. 'Stupid forum, you are inadequate at pole creation', he thought. Yet, Whiskey was a determined young man, and no matter how many silly, illiterate administrators there were here, nor how bad this forum is at creating poles, he fought on. And to this day, he is still fighting."

Why is this not an option?
It should be.

Urban Hat€monger ? 02-01-2013 08:19 PM

If he wants to create poles he could always get Yac to screw his mother.

14232949 02-01-2013 08:19 PM

I'm still calling it, Whiskey's brand of inanity is due to him being Howard the Duck's re-incarnation.
I never believed in it before, but the similarities between the two and their timing can not simply be coincidence.

Moderators, honestly. Is there a problem with me creating so many polls? Because personally, I think it adds excitement to the forum and allows us all to understand what the community thinks about various things. Just because some of you find my polls dull doesnt necessarily mean I should stop creating them you know.....

There are far too many polls wandering the streets of our cities and towns, nothing to do, nowhere to go. These poor souls (!) have had nothing to look forward to in their dull lives, other than maybe being selected to run a local or general election question, or be grabbed by some spotty teenager for Facebook or some ****e.

Then, like a knight on a white horse, this hitherto unknown Israeli came out of nowhere and descended on every town, city, and village, sweeping up polls in his arms as he came. "YOU'LL do for one about women!" he cried, brandishing one high in the air, "And YOU'LL go lovely with an idea about dinners I have!" And so on he went, charging through the countries of the world, picking up polls and giving them finally a purpose in life, a reason to live, a sense of worth and of belonging!

And his name was revered throughout all Polldom, and he was granted the title
Sir Whiskey, Grand Keeper of the Polls!
Praised be his name, for he has made the mediocre, er, less mediocre!

Here endeth the lesson... ;)

Well why is that the impression I get then? You dont have to say something for the other person to realize it by themselves. Just like when going on a date, the woman could show signs of not wanting to be with you, without even opening her mouth.

Whiskey, I feel your polls are fine as they are. You should be free to create polls that interest you without moderators jumping in and making fun of them.

I'm sorry that moderators aren't consistently polite here. I feel sad whenever I see them mock someone's contributions like I see them doing to you.

I think quite a few moderators and members want to make the climate here be one where those in power feel free to mock and belittle others. I want MusicBanter to create a climate where members are welcomed to share their opinions and interests, while putting other members down and being rude to them is discouraged.

Some people seeing this thread will probably say that when you feel you are being mocked or teased, pointing that out to defend yourself is "over-reacting" or being "too sensitive." I disagree. Defending yourself is being assertive and is standing up to people who are choosing to be verbally/emotionally abusive.

Whiskey, I get the same impression as you, and the reason (to state the obvious) is that a moderator, Vanilla, said your polls are generic and dull and created a thread and poll to mock them:

Play doesn't involve many members belittling someone and putting her down. That's called bullying, and I see moderators doing it a lot on this forum. People get their thrills by being mean. I don't, and I wish mods would squelch bullying rather than be main perpetrators of it here at MusicBanter.

Mods, I wish you'd stop creating and contributing to threads that mock members' contributions. If someone isn't being playful with you, then your "play" with them isn't play, especially since you are in a position of power here.

This thread isn't reciprocal playful interaction. This means moderators are simply using your Internet time to make people who have done nothing wrong (other than join MusicBanter) feel uncomfortable by putting them and their contributions down.

Whiskey, I agree with zevokes: it is good not to take it personally when people go out of their way to mock someone. The reason is that whenever people make fun of you, it is due to their *own* issues and problems, and not yours.

First of all, thanks for the sympathy and appreciation that you show towards this issue.

Secondly, you're right....I shouldnt take these kind of things personally. Its sometimes difficult to do so, especially when its many people trying to mock you at the same time(like in this thread), but I still manage to do it.

Honestly, ever since I joined this forum Ive had a strong feeling that nobody likes me. Sure a "wow you're so cool whiskey" kind of comments here and there, but other than that, I felt like nobody cares about me and regard me as a pathetic troll that only tries to cause problems on the forum with his polls and awkward replies to threads. Obviously these things are not true at all, and Ive never tried to cause problems on the forum at all from the very first moment that I joined here. I truly want everyone to understand that, and I hope Im clear enough about this right now.

If I had to judge myself, I'd say Im probably a gift from heaven to this forum for deciding to join, as Im posting actively everyday and contributing significantly to the forum in various ways. So instead of mocking me, the moderators need to appreciate that.

Plankton 02-06-2013 09:53 AM

I don't know about a "Gift From Heaven" but yer alright in my book Whiskey. Maybe a bit socially awkward, but your heart is in the right place, and thats endearing. Keep on doing what you do, don't take no **** from no one and let the bad vibes slide off you like water off a duck.
