I think the mods must be privileged if one of the greatest trouble makers on this site today is Erica. I also think making this thread was a bad idea and shouldn't have been done because even if it's just made in jest, I fear that a lot of its contents does a little in widening a gap between Erica and some of the other members of the forum, a group consisting of several of its most active members as well as moderators.

As I've written several times, I appreciate Erica for being a unique member here, very smart and articulate and who dares to voice her concerns even when going against popular opinion. I wish this was the sort of community that would make a thread to celebrate these things about her rather than mock them.

The internet's already full enough of cynicism and people trying to be cool by putting down others as it is.

Maybe I'm jaded or stupid but this whole thing attracts me to VEG even more than I already was. I wouldn't mind dying on an un inaccessible island with her. Hopefully the weather would be warm but that wouldn't matter much. We'd listen to Baroque music until all the batteries die, and eat tropical fruits or tundra vegetables. Due to hunger and non-modern living, we probably would quickly forget things like MusicBanter.

Would you die from eating too much fruit? Would there be any source of meat on the island? Or fresh water?

It would need to be consistent preferably too.

Well laddie, theres only so many times you can eat a man's penis before it turns out to not actually be there anymore. Unless it can grow back, then by all means bring a frying pan and yere sorted.

Jayzus you're picky when it comes to meat. Yes, you're correct though, a consistant meat is one that requires little chewing. It just kinda melts in your mouth.

FETCHER. 03-05-2013 09:54 AM

Ugh that would never be a water substitute. Unless it was sea water.

PoorOldPo 03-05-2013 10:06 AM

I didn't know *** tasted like salt water, but thats because I have never tasted it ;)

Well that would be some strange, salty-ish water then lol. Maybe the all-fruit diet would make it better.

I didn't miss your comment, Tuna, but my reason for offering to post that particular member's music after a moderator deleted the link from the member's music thread is that he was NOT a newbie. He had been a member at MB for a year and had posted on and off about music and not just his own.

I may be in the minority here at MB, but I like to talk about famous people's music up in the music forums and I also like to talk with "regular" people about their music in the songwriting section. Therefore, I try to stick up for our members who like to make music and get feedback here at MB.

My version of the ideal welcome wagon at MB is to...
(1) be polite to new members;
(2) recognize when a member isn't "new";
(3) be more welcoming to members who like to make music and not just listen to it;
(4) don't assume members are here just to post about their own music when they do post about it (I know how exciting it is for people to find a music community and to share with others who love music);
(5) be polite when members break the rules.

According to me, newbies as well as established members shouldn't be free to be as hostile as they want, and moderators' responses should be polite. Moderators shouldn't call people trolls when they aren't trolling, for example.

If moderators see someone who they feel is breaking the rules, I simply want moderators to be courteous when pointing it out to that person in private, and also when discussing it openly on the Boards, if dealing with the issue publicly is necessary.

I've seen many instances of moderators being patient, helpful, and considerate. When they write discourteously to or about other members, then that's the behavior I want changed.

I'm not against "interference" by moderators. I want polite interference.

Viva Vivaldi! :beer: I'm glad MusicBanter inspires people to share their love of music that will exist long after MB is forgotten.
