Read the post again. Hitting a ball on a video game is not hitting a ball in real life. I'm not talking about the energy required to do either I am talking about one being a physical reaction and the other happening on a computer screen.

But I'll respond to that point anyway, snooker players are constantly walking around the table & manouvering into awkward positions to reach long shots, far more physical output than competitive gaming.

That is the last I will comment on e-sports in this thread though. We can take this discussion over to the E-sports thread and beat a dead horse if you'd like.
What would be the point of that?

You also decided to throw away the hand eye coordination in a competitive setting part of your argument.
No, I just decided to throw another point in there as a side dish. The main course was enough tbh.

There is no hand/eye coordination in e-sports, you're staring at a screen while your hands are in your lap holding a joypad.

I don't think you know what e-sports are by that description.

Are e-sports people?

There is a lot of hand eye coordination with video games and e-sports, actually. Gaming consoles and computers are regularly used in occupational therapy for people who have difficulty with gross and fine motor skills. My brother's therapy includes e-sports and video games and he even has special games that you can't get in the store made specifically for therapeutic purposes. Most of them are sports games.

OK, there is hand/eye coordination. But:

in its absence most people would be unable to carry out even the simplest of actions such as picking up a book from a table or playing a video game.
Not a sport. Far, far superior skill required to play snooker.

I didn't say it was a sport, that's beside the point anyways. I addressed that you completely ignored the fact that video games require hand/eye coordination, and are a good tool to use with people who need help developing that skill. Sports are also a great way to practice hand/eye coordination, but since a lot of autistic children and adults are not interested in actually playing them, therapists have to come up with alternative methods to nurture that skill. Video and PC games are a great way to do that, especially the Wii Fit game, the Xbox Kinect and now with the new Wii U console.

I don't really understand that quote you posted since it's taken out of context. Where did it come from?

Yeah but come on having a piss requires hand/eye coordination, pretty much everything you do does to some extent.

My post was flippant but lol at thinking video games are anywhere near throwing a 9 darter or a break of 147 in terms of skill and difficulty (not you, in general).

Wiki.

Of course everything in life requires hand/eye coordination. But honestly, kids who have trouble with that can't even pee in a toilet properly. Sometimes adults too.

Maybe your post was flippant but the general claim that video games don't require or can't encourage the development of hand/eye coordination skills, at least to an extent, is ridiculous.
