We used to have to use the public box on the corner, handy for me as I could see it from my bedroom so didn't have to stand for ages in the rain (Ireland, remember!) waiting for whoever was in there to finish up. We thought we were great when we got our housephone: oh the comfort! The class! The luxury!

Tell me something, seriously: would you know how to make a call on one of these?

Clue: it does not connect to the internet and has no USB slot. :pssst:

I'll thank you not to call me British. I am Irish. Please remember that. It could save your life one day. :nono:

As for "PTO" it was not ALWAYS used, but where say a letter would end maybe with "I'll be coming over in December" and then the author ran out of space, and it COULD have been the end of the letter, PTO would have you checking the back where it might say "assuming grandpa makes it through" or whatever. Important information could be on the back of the page, so if that was the case, the attention of the reader was drawn to it. It became a thing in my youth and before. A lot of official letters would have it. Also "Encl", just in case someone didn't check the envelope...

Alright... I gotta chime in here. I had a Mickey Mouse rotary when I was a kid, and PTO means "Power Take Off" on any motorized mechanism that has a gear actuational system.

I know I just made up some words but yeah, Dad time.

I chuckled then felt bad at the same time.

Made me think of what kind of violence happened to her that she required one.:yikes:

DJ, did you ever stop to think it might have been an accident? Doesn't have to have been violence: she doesn't look too worried. Maybe she lost it in a car accident or something. She could also be just modelling one for a medical magazine or video, or demonstrating how one is applied or used. Doesn't always have to be the worst thing you can think of.

Of course, it could be, but that's no reason to assume it was.

Boo go away thought police.

No need to try to tell me what I thought about when I made that post.

The reason I felt bad is because I went straight to worse case scenario and that's why my reaction was to feel that way. I didn't sit back and think about it in depth to bring up other scenarios because I don't feel that greatly about it.

Can't you just chalk it up to us thinking about it in different ways and move along?
