Uh... I'd say having sex with children is ****ed up regardless of what time period it occurs in. I don't see how feeling that way is 'touchy' and I think this whole idea you have of 'reality' is profoundly cowardly and inhibited. The world is ****ed up, therefore it's stupid to be upset about it? It's just reality that stuff like that happens. "Meh". of course it's ****ed up but there's no point in dwelling on on it. it already happened, it's one of those sad but true type situations. honestly muhammad had good reasons for making her his wife which FL might have been indicating to but there is still a tradition (by people who revered him) that states he consummate the marriage at puberty.

But then people complain, because it raises their taxes, and religious employers get angry about paying for something that goes against their ideology, so... the lesson is that you just can't win.

And, no, i'm not going to shame someone just for having a different lifestyle from my own. Try living from paycheck to paycheck, with absolutely no hope of escaping from your situation, without jumping at the chance to have sex, drugs, or whatever else takes your mind off of your inevitable mortality even for just a moment. You may not agree with them, but try to understand their point of view, especially if you expect them to try to understand yours.

When infant mortality rate was that high and life expectancy was that low, it was kind of the lesser of two evils. You had to start making babies as young and as much as possible. However we feel about it now, it was just necessary back in the day, so getting pissed at some guy in the past for something that was just the way it was is irrational.
