I'm going to leave it for now, see if someone else can get some more clues. I'm just basically throwing out iconic classical compositions from around that period here, and I kind of don't want to just stumble on it by a process of elimination. I'll check back later.

That's a good contender for most iconic classical soundtrack ever right? Felt like I might have been overselling it there but I also think it's pretty valid.
