Touche. I also thought the Teen Spirit song was very good.

Different. But very good. She also did a good job of Killing Me Softly.

Theres so many, I'll try to bring up as many as I can;

Korn - yeah you know which song...
APC - Imagine, When The Levee Breaks
Counting Crows - Big Yellow Taxi
Limp Biscuit - Behind Blue Eyes
Kid Rock - Feel Like Makin Love
William Shatner - Lucy In The Sky
Madonna - American Pie
Dolly Parton - Stairway To Heaven
Michael Bolton - Dock Of The Bay
Sheryl Crow - Sweet Child O' Mine
Hillary Duff - My Generation
Hootie and the BlowmeFish - Hey, Hey, What Can I Do
Cindi Laupher - What's Goin On

Yeah, I'm sure I'll think of tons more after I post this but those all suck, but they still don't make me hate the original version though...

Dylan's version rules, especially live, he changes the lyrics for the better to. The studio lyrics are:

Mama, take this badge off of me
I can't use it anymore.
It's gettin' dark, too dark for me to see
I feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door.

The live lyrics are so good:

Mama wipe the blood off of my face
I can't see through it anymore.
I need someone to talk to and a new hiding place,
I feel I'm knockin' on heaven's door.

How dare you badmouth dylan...

Yeah, I'm sure I'll think of tons more after I post this but those all suck, but they still don't make me hate the original version though...

For one think, Kid Rock didn't do a bad job covering Bad Companey because they suck int he first place.

Secondly, the songs you listed, come on now, lets be serious for a minute, I think its time we spoke.

Korns version - They replaced the funk flicks with distored chords adding a more ominous sense of the oncoming march that was the resistance to conformity. Not that flyods version didn't do it justice, but Korn looked at the song in general, what it said, what it meant to everyone who sang that refrain and they said "this music compliments that mood better" and they were right as far as I was concered.

APC- When the levee breaks, Ill give you that, they just did it their way I don't think they killed it though. But Imagine? Oh come on, Lennon's version had music so they'd play it on the radio, the music adds nothing to that song. If the words were diffrent, it would be a **** song. He did that intentionally to make people focus on the words, theres no way in **** that APC made worse music. APC like Korn was thinking of mood. The words are the same so theres no lack of power there, but APC added a post-apocalyptic feel to the words, and it had an immediacy that was pertinant to the time period. I think its much much better.

Counting Crows - On what grounds I ask. Thiers was a richer fuller song. I think CC's do a great version of everything they cover. Try their Grateful Dead cover "Friend of the Devil." The crows, out of all the bands you listed are completly about music, no image, no magazine interviews. They did a damn nice version of that song, and I think its better because they don't have "humerous" vocal flutterings that detract from the emotion of the song.

Shattner - Did you really even consider anything he's done as a serious attempt to create a better song. Shatter is funny, and any song he touches is ****ing gold. Chastising this for being bad is like yelling at someone when you didn't get the joke. You look like an ass for even taking it seriously.

i agree with you on the limp bizkit one for sure. but i didn't mind the korn cover, and i REALLY liked the APC cover of imagine, so dark. i dunno if its been mentioned yet i havent scrolled though the whole thing, but RATM's enitre renegades album was pretty solid. the cypress hill cover made me cream my jeans the first time i hear it.

You know thats right. When he says "Didn't have to blast him but I did anyway, ha ha ha young punk had to pay" theres such a vicious eveil in his voice thats absolute gold. I havn't heard that much posion in a mans voice since Axl did the second song off appetite I forget the name but the one where he says "turn around bitch I gat a use for you". Venom like that ain't seen much round these parts.
