If that's not enough then my local festivals have better line-ups than yours.

I also saw Nathaniel Ratelife for free last week :finger:

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 06-17-2016 11:46 AM

Would love to see: Twin Peaks, Car Seat Headrest, Erykah Badu, Anderson .Paak, Vince Staples, Wiki, Milo, Converge, Baroness, and YOB.

There's a ton of acts I couldn't give a shit about there too though.

Are you implying you wouldn't want to see them live?

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 06-17-2016 11:59 AM

Not familiar enough with their material to really care, tbh.

Well, you know what to do.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 06-17-2016 12:02 PM

Continue listening to the new wave albums and pretend this conversation ever happened within the next five minutes?

Saw Rainbow yesterday, reunited with Blackmore.
I expected some mild nostalgia-fueled fun, but it turned out to be legitimately awesome. Manfred Mann's Earth Band playing before them were pretty cool as well.
I think I'm really getting old, enjoying dad rock that much.

Exo 06-22-2016 03:49 PM

Just realized Creepoid are playing tonight. They're opening for Superheaven and Spirit of teh Beehive is opening for Creepoid. Gotta leave now though.

Justthefacts 06-22-2016 08:01 PM

Titus Andronicus - 9/20 at The Paper Tiger in San Antonio, I love that venue. Super insanely incredibly stoked.

Exo 06-23-2016 08:08 AM

So last night was pretty neat. First, Spirit of the Beehive played very well and made me a fan. Creepoid was amazing like every time. I think this is my 6th or 7th time seeing them and it's just always great. This was different though because I was smoking outside and the whole band came out and the five of us got into a long conversation. I told them next show I would smoke them up because they're always asking for weed. They all introduced themselves to me and vice versa. So, I may have just made friends with Creepoid. Now I just have to find weed. It's like I'm in high school again.

Oh, and I bought their blue vinyl of Cemetery Highrise Slum. It's gorgeous.

Hearts & Plugs Summer Shindig at Royal American in Charleston on Saturday. Brand New & Modest Mouse at Madison Square Garden on July 14th.

Exo 06-26-2016 03:44 PM

So I have the actual tickets to Kayo Dot Album Release Party on July 8th and Swans on July 29th. The rest of these depends on whether I have work that night or not. If not, consider them done. On my radar are...

July 9 - Nothing, Citizen, Culture Abuse, Mary Lattimore & Jeff Zeigler
July 13 - Gone Is Gone (mbrs of Mastodon/At the Drive-In/QOTSA)
July 20 - Royal Headache, Warthog, Career Suicide
July 28 - Jaga Jazzist, Arc Iris, Aiming For Enrique
August 4 - Hiatus Kaiyote
August 5 - Boris (performing Pink), Earth, Sh*tstorm
September 8 - Vulfpeck
September 11 - Wolves in the Throne Room
September 16 - Godspeed You! Black Emperor (performing live score to 'monumental')
September 30 - Russian Circles, Helms Alee
October 4 - Diarrhea Planet
October 5- Built to Spill, Hop Along, Alex G
October 20 - Medeski, Martin & Wood
October 21 - Daughters
October 28 - Cass McCombs
November 10 - Jesu, Sun Kil Moon

Obviously I'm not going to make it to all those but some will be done. October looks like it's going to be awesome.

Frownland 06-26-2016 03:50 PM

Hopefully Jesu and Sun Kil Moon play separately.

Seriously. That one is more if I have NOTHING better to do that day.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 06-26-2016 05:18 PM

You better catch Nothing, Boris, and WitTR.

I saw Weird Al by accident many years ago.

I bought tickets to see the Violent Femmes, marked the date on my calendar and when the day of the show came up, I went to the venue with a friend. We gave the doorman our tickets, he looked at them, tore the stub off each one (this was before tickets were scanned) and we went inside. As we were walking to the bar, a band started playing on the stage and my friend said "that looks like Weird Al on stage." At first I thought he was the opening act, but it seemed odd that he would've been paired with the Violent Femmes. My friend looked at his ticket, laughed, and said "check your ticket" so I did and noticed the date of the Violent Femmes show was for the previous day. I had marked the wrong date on my calendar and somehow the doorman hadn't looked at the info printed on either of our tickets and we wound up getting into the wrong show the following evening.

The band was very good, Weird Al was his usual self (I thought he bore a bit of a physical resemblance to Tiny Tim). The music sort of reminded me of They Might Be Giants. There was a good amount of performance art/theatrics running throughout the show. His Kurt Cobain impersonation was my favorite of the evening.

I think it was 1998 or 99 when I saw him.

Thelonious Monkey 06-28-2016 10:16 PM

Black Sabbath are coming to Leeds in January. I'm going. Never seen them live, so don't really know how they are live, but can't pass up the opportunity.

Frownland 06-28-2016 10:21 PM

Going to be seeing Santana, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, the London Philharmonic, Marcus Miller, and a few others at the Hollywood Bowl in August.
