I'm probably off to see Beres Hammond, Gregory Isaacs and the Heptones at the Manchester Apollo on May 1st. Should be pretty immense.

Godamn this thread just makes me incredibly jealous I don't go to gigs because my friends and I don't share any likes or dislikes :(
I'm just counting the days until Belle And Sebastian tour again as they are the only band me and my friends have in common.

I'm in the same boat man. I have friends dotted about the county who I'm seeing bands with, but my friedns who live here never come to gigs with me. Deerhunter, Dinosaur Jr, Antlers and APTBS are all solo gigs for me I think. Festivals are easier for me to go to with friends but normal shows can be hard pushed. Sucks a bit.

DO IT! I'm hella jealous!

But there's only one, Aphex Twin not Aphex Twins. ;)

downwardspiral 04-19-2010 10:27 AM

Aphex Twin is sweet live, but he's playing the Saturday and I'm only going the Sunday. I seen him a few years ago in Manchester though so it's not too bad.

It's natural instinct when writing Twin, to put an "S" on the end :(.

sidewinder 04-19-2010 10:39 AM

Yeah I hear ya. I'm just so used to his name I never make the mistake. At least not without catching it right away.

Haha, I'm not excusing myself because I hate when people spell deadmau5 wrong or say it like dead - mau - five. But in ones defense I'm not too familiar with Aphex Twin :( I'm going to retreat to spotify now haha. :D

LoathsomePete 04-19-2010 10:52 AM

Mastodon are playing at the Knitting Factory which recently opened in Downtown Reno. Playing with them is Between the Buried and Me and Baroness which could be good. Ultimately though it's one of the few shows that comes to Reno that I actually want to see. I heard something about The Drive-By Truckers playing somewhere in this general area but haven't been able to find much more on that so I'll write that one off.

RVCA 04-19-2010 11:39 AM

Muse just announced 3 dates really close to where I live, so I'm definitely going to see them on one of those dates. They're all towards the end of September.

bubu 04-19-2010 11:52 AM

Nice...right now there aren't any concerts around where I live but I plan on going to Paco De Lucia as soon as I can, even if it's in another country :D

downwardspiral 04-20-2010 10:02 AM

11/05 - Pavement @ Brixton Academy :D :D

TheBig3 04-20-2010 09:55 PM

I just went to the Lucero/DBT show and god willing, Gogol Bordello next week.

DiSTANToblivion 04-21-2010 11:35 PM

I'll be seeing both Birds Of Tokyo and Cog one after the other in June... :thumb:

scottsy 04-25-2010 10:16 AM

How are Cog these days? When I left Australia they were just starting to get a good groundswell of notoriety going... I thought they were doing some good stuff, actually.

DeathBreath 04-25-2010 11:56 AM

If I can get money:
July 3 - Warped Tour 2010
May 11 - A Day To Remember, August Burns Red, Silverstein, Go Radio, Enter Shikari.
August 2 - The Devil Wears Prada, Miss May I, Your Demise.

So Cog are still around?! When are they playing in June? (I forget what city you are in, Melbourne? Or Sydney?) I'm not really a fan of Birds of Tokyo to be honest..

I'm seeing Karnivool (for about the bazillionth time) in June/July ish when I visit my family for my midyear break. Pumped!

sidewinder 04-25-2010 08:21 PM

Anyone seen Liars live? Thinking of going next Friday. I'm only familiar with two of their albums (1st and latest), but will check out more this week.

Kind of depends on work whether I go or not, though. Wait actually it's Saturday, so there's a better chance I'll be able to go.

Yeah apparently Cog are still kicking around. They have a debut DVD coming out and are planning on taking a little break after touring the DVD. Awesome news hey. If you have last.fm guys I'll add ya 'cause they're on my events there :thumb:

I'm in Sydney Lateralus. I like Birds Of Tokyo (no where near as much as Karnivool though). Guess what? You can add that Karnivool gig to my list too... I'm going as well, only my first time seeing them but. Which one you going to when you come and visit? Might see ya there :wavey:

Ohh I'm going to the Melbourne Karnivool gig! I'm guessing you'll be going to a Sydney one?

For sure, that is if you can still get tix. I just looked it up and people were saying it's already sold out. :(

They are playing at the Metro Theater in Sydney. I don't know if you've ever been there but it's kinda a crap venue... You take what you can I guess, I think they would've been better at The Enmore myself.

Ohhh, I hope you get tickets! I bought mine on the day they came out but apparently they're either sold out or close to selling out in Melbourne.

I'm not really familiar with any venues in Sydney but that sucks that they're playing at a crappy venue, I always hate that. They're playing at the HiFi Bar in Melbourne which I am very excited about because it is a fantastic venue. I've seen them play their before and their sound was just amazing.

Nice. I hope I get tix as well, I'll definitely have my figers crossed as they are one band that I really need to see live. I'll be kicking myself if I don't get to see 'em.

I gotta head down to Melbourne and check out some venues there I think. I've also heard good things about the HiFi Bar :D

scottsy 04-30-2010 10:20 PM
