I didn't get more than 10 feet when I look down and there's a stack of 20's laying on the ground. I picked it up, looked around, and thought "wtf that dude must have dropped this". So, after about a half a second of trying to look for the guy I stuffed it in my pocket, knowing full well that if I do come across him I'd give it back to him. That was a long shot. I never saw that guy again, so since my friends tickets were fairly crappy seats I went to the box office and upgraded to 200 level center, right in the sweet spot for optimal sound. I was pleasantly surprised with how good they sounded too, and even though Roger faltered a little (it was cold and really windy, which they reminded the audience of more then a few times), he had an outstanding performance. And Pete... oh the Pete... lol he was solid, as well as the orchestra and everyone else. These spur of the moment concerts are always the funnest.

i wanna go to like 10 concerts in june. trouble is...i m not rich. i think concerts cost too much here

p.e would someone tell me how much would (approximately) these concerts cost over there (wherever that is)

1. Iggy Pop+ James (for some reason James were a big name in my country) and Shame + 2 local bands, open air.
2. Damien Marley + 2-3 none-cares-about-them-bands, open air
3. J Mascis at a small venue.
4. Rob Mazurek/Mats Gustafsson/David Grubbs at a tiny venue (some record shop or something)
5. Low, open air

The only one I can tell you for certain at this moment, is J. Mascis. He's playing a small venue in my neck of the woods and tickets are $40 (US) each.

I'd definitely prioritize this one. Seems like something that would be $10-25 USD.

Shame and Iggy is cool too. I don't think I'd want to see Low at an open air show but I'm sure they'll still be good.

Crematorium, Genocide Pact, Primitive Man, and Full of Hell tonight!

frownland yeah i would guess you d be more interested in that one. too experimental for my taste. i ve heard off road by grubbs and gustafsson and i dont find it interesting. some things by the chicago underground trio though i like. i would go if it wasnt 20 euro (+10% to convert it to usd)

iggy+others is 48 euro
if you bought it like maybe 6 months before it would be 40 i think. you ve got that kind of **** over there?

Psy-Fi was J. Mascis solo there?
here that one is 20, thats considerably lower.

i understand that none is buying recorded music and people have to make a living so i usually dont complain about concert prices but this summer is gonna be pretty tight for me financially speaking and for some reason everyone is coming to play over here this summer...

i think i m gonna go to see iggy despite the steep price tho..

The smaller venues in my area, like clubs, small theaters, restaurants & bars that feature live bands, usually have a difference in price of about $5 per ticket if you purchase before the date of the show vs the day of the show.
The bigger venues like the larger theaters, arenas, stadiums, don't have any difference in price whether you buy before or day of show.

J. Mascis is playing solo at the show closest to me. Sold out.

thanks for the info. i m pretty interested on how these things work.
here its almost always cheaper to buy before the show (3-4-5 euro cheaper)
but in the last years the big festivals have introduced this new tactic: they sometimes announce a big name in january maybe, then set a price and start selling tickets. til summer price goes up 3-4 times as they announce more names etc..) so iggy started i think at 38 or 40 and is now 48, at the door i think it ll be 50.

will you go to J. Mascis? i liked some things dinosaur jr did and i guess he's important as a musician but i dont think i d stand his voice in a solo performance...

I saw Dinosaur Jr. perform live back in the early 90's and I saw J. Mascis play with Earthless as a second guitarist, when they teamed up for the "Earthless Meets Heavy Blanket - In a Dutch Haze" album. Other than those two shows, I don't care enough to bother going to see J. Mascis performing solo.
