Saw Flogging Molly in K.C. on Sunday night. Great show, terrible sound. All you could hear was distorted, overloaded bass.

The mosh pit was amazing and the performance was spot on, as usual.

s_k 03-15-2011 06:52 PM

Pity about the sound. Kind of the opposite of their albums, which are stuffed with distorted, overloaded midrange :D. I love FM though.

jackhammer 03-15-2011 07:22 PM

I have mentioned a few times regarding the festivals i may be going to in the summer months and now confirmed :)

Catching these from June - August (not including bands on festival lists that I won't bother watching):

Iron Maiden
Alice Cooper
Kreator
Mastodon
Gojira
Skindred
Cavalera Conspiracy
Accept
Death Angel
Overkill
Coroner
Triptykon
W.A.S.P
Motorhead
Morbid Angel
Exodus
Napalm Death (nearly 20 years since I last saw them- not quite the same band I bet)
Angel Witch

Mojo 03-17-2011 09:32 AM

Which festivals you off to then? Is Hellfest one of them?

Also, twenty years ago I wassix so I have no idea whther Napalm Death stack up in comparison to what they used to be like, they probably dont. However I loved them when I saw them.

Moo 03-18-2011 01:54 AM

Wolfgang Gartner
Aoki
Glitch Mob
A-Trak

lots of win coming up.

got tickets for this on Wednesday :D so happy, can't wait for more announcements

Archers of Loaf, No Age, Flying Lotus, Marnie Stern and Omar Souleyman have all been announced for this. SO happy about AoL.

BobLobLaw 03-19-2011 11:45 AM

Going to Warped. Fun times, man. Fun times.

UnionThug 03-26-2011 06:28 PM

I got Cold War Kids, Bright Eyes and John Mellencamp next month here in the bay.

Buzzov*en 03-26-2011 06:32 PM

Sleep - June in NYC

Key 03-26-2011 08:31 PM

I heard Chiodos were supposed to be coming through here soon. So I may try to check that out.

music_phantom13 03-26-2011 08:49 PM

Coachella in a few weeks... :D I got lucky as hell. I cannot wait there are dozens of bands I have been dying to see.

ThePhanastasio 03-26-2011 09:13 PM

I have Phish in June in Cincinnati - they seldom if ever do summer shows there, so I don't know about it. I do have hope that since Trey has a song called "Cincinnati" on his Bar 17 album that they'll play a killer show, but I'm not really holding my breath for that one.

Maybe I'll finally catch an "Icculus" or "Harpua" - been chasing those sons of bitches for two years!

Belly19 03-27-2011 03:59 AM

Explosions in the Sky in Dublin

GeddyBass2112 03-27-2011 09:06 AM

I'm going to see Rush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but I'm stoked. Also, see my username.

EDIT: I'm seeing them May 21st.

Geddy...<3

Charlemagne 03-27-2011 01:51 PM

Andrew Bird on Thursday
The Mountain Goats on Saturday.
Awesome week coming up!

Rage Against the Machine 03-27-2011 02:25 PM

La Dispute with Defeater and others on May 11. Right in the middle of AP exam testing, should be a good way to release all the stress that comes with those shitty two weeks.

I am doing Sonisphere in Switzerland June, Bang Your Head in Germany July (not the best line up but it is a great small festival) and Bloodstock here in blighty August. I wish I was going to Hellfest in France. Line up looks stunning.

Engine 03-27-2011 04:03 PM

Mogwai in May is all I've got lined up.

Nice, those bands are pretty sweet. I've heard good things about their live shows.

Ya I actually listened to Defeater the first time a few days ago by your recommendation and loved them, and the next day La Dispute announces this tour. I'm stoked. I haven't been to a good hardcore show in forever.

Glad to hear they worked out for you. :) Should be a good time.

Connair 03-29-2011 11:19 AM

So damn happy! Going to see Lightning Bolt next week! And Daytrader Thursday!

Howell 03-30-2011 11:50 AM

Beady Eye in Brighton (super excited)

Aloe Blaac at London Scala (EVEN MORE EXCITED!)

Swedish House Mafia at Alexandra Place (*faints*)

Meh, the Bang Your Head line-up isn;t so bad but yeah, I see what you mean. Still I would happily watch Death Angel, Immortal, Over Kill and Slayer. Helloween could be alright I guess, not too sure.

Hehe, Def Con One are playing Bloodstock? Blimey. They play this one bar here what seems to be every few weeks.

EDIT: It even mentions that on the Bloodstock website.

Ghost 03-31-2011 12:07 AM

Just found out I'll be going to April Wine in June, then seeing Steely Dan/Heart/Def Leppard late August, I'm stooooked.

RVCA 03-31-2011 05:24 PM

I could see Deftones with Dillinger Escape Plan on June 15th, but it's 50 bucks.... aie.

Thank you for posting this! I googled Steely Dan and discovered they're playing 3 dates very close to home. I'm seriously considering going to one of them. The only problem is that the tickets cost 100+ dollars and I'll be hard-pressed to find someone under 40 who wants to accompany me.

Finally, something HUGE to look forward to! July 1-3!

[MERIT] 04-01-2011 11:30 PM

In June I'm going to camp out and see Willie Nelson and Jamey Johnson.

stephen1181 04-02-2011 12:14 PM

I'm definitely considering Face to Face with Strung Out in Covington, KY. That would be two bands I enjoy, and would be a good mix.

ETF_RR 04-02-2011 12:49 PM

Going to Rascal Flatts in July and Taylor Swift in August I believe... neither are my choice...
Hopefully I'll get to a couple concerts that I actually want to go to over the summer too.

Queen Boo 04-04-2011 01:38 PM

I might see Crystal Castles in August. That'd be pretty insane....

gunnels 04-04-2011 07:09 PM

Hopefully seeing The Flaming Lips in may! And, judging from live videos I have seen, it looks like there will be some prime people-watching to be had with the crowd!

Lucky... they held a concert near my town with some huge music festival. I missed the entire thing.

gunnels 04-04-2011 07:41 PM

They were at Bonnaroo a few years ago (along with 19091 other awesome bands) and I missed that as well.
And now, the one year I AM able to go to such an event, the line-up is dull. =\

But yeah, I am pretty lucky. :D They're playing at a relatively intimate venue too!

stillunusual 04-05-2011 08:11 AM

Flaming Lips are playing at Jodrell Bank in July so I might go along to that.

This month I'm going to see Horace Andy, Agnes Obell and And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead - all in Manchester....
