It's even less complicated than their debut, but isn't that their goal? The ultimate stripped down sound? I don't think the experimental edge pushed aside the music, White Light/White Heat is a great tune and that riff in Sister Ray...

I don't think they had a goal of "stripped down sound." Some of their music is stripped down, other compositions are very lush. I don't think they had much of a goal outside of making good music, whatever they felt good was at the time.

I believe Lou Reed once said something along the lines of 'One chord, that's good, two, that's pushing it, but three?'.
