White Light/White Heat takes everything on their debut one step further, their best imo.

I don't like it because I think the experimental side of it overwhelms the musical side. The absence of Cale following this record makes the VU&Nico album while not the best they could have been, the best they were. |

TVU&Nico is without a doubt their best work... Their self-titled one was decent, and their last 2 albums were enjoyable enough, but they never really topped the masterpiece that they made originally IMO. Maybe it had something to do with Nico being with them.... I don't know, just a thought...

Prior to hooking up with Warhol and the Velvet Underground, Nico occupied the same stylistic sphere as Dusty Springfield and Petula Clarke. What I find interesting was that her voice was a bit different. More light and poppy. On Velvet Underground & Nico (and Chelsea Girl), her voice is more sonorous and almost dirge-like. I didn't much care for her voice in her Velvet Underground period, but I've definitely come around on it. Now it doesn't detract from the music, though it still isn't my favourite female voice. |
That's a real catchy tune! Any idea what year it was made?
