I will attest that Canadian music sucks, minus Neil Young who hasn't lived in Canada for years
|
Dude, Godspeed You Black Emperor! is from Canada.
Therefore, Canadian music does not suck. |
2 bands don`t make a country great at music , look at the crap thats come from there before that.
|
Trust me, they make up for every ****e band from Canada.
Plus, there are actually a million and one great Indie bands outta Canada today |
Most of them sound the same to me , seems to either be post rock or Arcade Fire/Talking Heads lite
|
Well, if you're into Post Rock, and Arcade Fire/Talking Heads lite, then Canada would be a pretty promising music scene for you. :P
|
Arcade Fire eat c0ck
it's a fact |

Those damn Canadians steal everything.

um........didn't you Americans steal your own country??

Okay then, let's change this to a global thing. I made it only Brits v Yanks because I thought that it was a bigger issue without a load of unknown, ultra-foreign bands floating around. I didn't want that basically because I don't listen to anything outside of Great Britain and the USA. But if you lot want it changed, then go ahead. So people, who makes the better music? The Brits, Yanks, Canadians, Croatians, French, Norweigans, Italians, Germans, Spanish, Portugese.......

Your thread is just fine the way it is hobojesus.

Im from Tennessee, which for Beale Street, The Grand Ole Opry and Sun Records alone is far superior to any other US state and every nation in terms of musical greatness, we have rock n roll, blues, country and bluegrass, what do you german fockers have?...polka and techno?...So all of you, bow down before me, for i am your superior master.
We also have a lot of great rock bands to our credit, like Big Star and uh.......uh......Well, thats all we need, because Big Star rules. =D |
Anyway, Iceland deserves a mention for Bjork and Sigur Ros alone, both of whom i am obsessed with at the moment.
Though i just got into Ros a couple of months ago, i have been into Bjork for a very long time. |

I have and none of them are anything that I would go out of my way to declare that I am Canadian because of. Sorry, there is nothing here but a vapid wasteland of sub par music

Anyway its ignorant to say any country dosent produce good music, good music is available worldwide, everybody has something to offer. |
im from wales, yes its part of britian but someones was talking bout seperate american states so i can talk about wales:) erm.....tom jones! (woo!)
|
Best Canadian band based on what I've heard is Rush. (I might listen to more Death From Above, not that I think they're contenders for such rank, but they do insterest me.)
As for the question... both countries have truly great and truly terrible bands. But Beatles, Floyd, and Stones, that's a pretty impressive line up though. Even Marley was half British. Man you Brits gets your rugby mitts into everything! |

I dig Broken Social Scene.
|
I don't think we should admit Tom Jones is a part of Britain. That makes us lose something like ten points in this argument.

David Gilmoure is from Pink Floyd...you know, that great british band  |
