Don't forget that you can still use Itunes to buy music. Just move it to mediamonkey after it's finished downloading and delete it from your Itunes library.

I just got mediamonkey, and I really like it, but I'm having some trouble with the last.fm scrobbler. I went to the homepage and downloaded it, and it appears to have installed, but no scrobbling is happening! Someone help?
there's a separate forum for all media monkey issues. here's the latest beta of the scrobbler if you want it:

MediaMonkey • View topic - Last.fm Scrobbler Plug-in testing (MM 3.1)

works perfectly for me, you have to go into the Preferences panel to append your last.fm login info for it to scrobble.

RockBox didn't work on the iPod Classic and so I doubt it works on any iPod after that. It will tell you on their site as to which iPods it supports

i have a 5th gen. just installed rockbox actually. it was a painless operation. absolutely idiot proof.

found a nice theme and am very happy with how things look so far.

tried a few flac albums and i am very impressed with the increase in audio quality. initial read speed is slow when accessing directories, but once an album is playing, all is well.

this thing even supports replay gain. i'm happy.

plus, it's totally reversible. and my apple firware is still there, i can boot to it whenever i want.

and no more software to add music. i can just use my own directory structure. drag 'n' drop.

don't know why i didn't do this before!

I think it will install on most current ones but don't think it's actually supported. But yeah, it's really good. I still use MM to sync mine though, never had to bother with (sh)iTunes in the first place.

i use and love songbird. it basically takes the good stuff from itunes, makes it way better, replaces the ****ty stuff with really awesome stuff and calls it a day.
it's buggy though and SLOW AS **** when a song is playing, big-time resource hog

but if anyone is ever looking for a new one give it a try, lots of awesome add-on and plugins and features to try

Why not use vlc player? I had if for about 5 months and it works great, never crashed, supports lots of video/audio formats and has customizable skins. I mostly use it to play flacs tho.

Winamp 5. The skins are often rather awesome, plus it's really fast with good equalizer presets when I'm feeling lazy.
