I've never listened to Big Star, but I'm on the dl. If they're like The Replacements they're bound to be good.

I like #1 Record well enough, but ti doesn't even come close to Let it Be for me.

Can't decide! Aargh! I'll go with Let It Be because it's their magnum opus whereas Third is Big Star's greatest album.

Very underrated Let It Be. Miles better than Abbey Road

Never saw the big deal in Big Star.

Hmmm the 'Mats seem to be coasting to victory by the looks of it, I thought Big Star would have a few more fans around here. But really I have to go for Let It Be. It's a bloody brilliant album from start to finish and seems to stand heads above their other albums. Definitely one of the best albums of the 80's. I really love Big Star though and they were a key influence on a lot of bands in the alternative rock scene, including The Replacements. And 'Thirteen' is one of my all-time favourite songs.

Let It Be - 5
#1 Record - 0

I think it's safe to say The Replacements won that one, I can't see Big Star making a comeback.

Next battle, courtesy of Nosferatu Man:

Suede - Dog Man Star (1994)

VS

Pulp - Different Class (1995)

Pulp have the best lyrics of all the Britpop big bands and this album is full of classics.
