Where do you hear negative stuff about them? TWS were one of the best things about the 00s, Jack is an extremely talented guitarist. I think there's only love for them on the boards, I'm gonna put myself out there and say whoever said negative things about them are idiots.

I'm a massive White Stripes fan. Can't wait for a new album next year.

Maybe on here? Not EVERYONE likes them. In fact most of their stuff bores me to tears.

TWS are far from boring. You do disappoint me sometimes jackhammer.

I know not everybody likes them, but I think the general consensus in most places (including here) that they're an extremely good band.

So good on him for not being deterred by what negative things he's heard.

I personally don't like The White Stripes. My mom (who's stuck in the early 00's and 90's) likes them, and all of my friends do, but they're not really my thing. It seems like everybody loves them.

Not Avant-garde-y enough for me, I guess, lol.

I think our tastes are polar opposites BOC (I miss your old name.)

I've never been able to REALLY get into experimental/avant garde stuff, Post-Rock is the devil as far as I'm concerned.

The White Stripes are very rootsy, just good old Blues Rock. Definitely one of my favourite bands. I think they're consistently good, Get Behind Me Satan aside.

It is my job to balance these things out. Good on him for sure. Doesn't mean I should concur. I can only hear so many blues riffs recycled before I hit 40....

same here. they do have some great songs though. it seems that about 50% of their material sounds exactly the same.

Mostly where I live, most people around here aren't really into music at all though. I personally also love that rootsy/blues sound he has.
New album eh? I'll be on the look out!

Hey it happens, no worries. There's no single band/artist that everyone agrees on ya know?

If the only White Stripes album you own is Elephant, you should get White Blood Cells for definite. After that, De Stijl.

New album should be out some time next year, hopefully sooner rather than later.

My cousin has White Blood Cells, which I just ripped
I do need De Stijl though. Thanks for the tip!

Hopefully sooner definitely!
Have you heard the album he did with Loretta Lynn?
