The Church - Priest = Aura
Thanks to Badlittlekitten and Janszoon for pointing me towards this band. This album is amazing, it sounds like a complete album too and every track is just as good as the last. I really love the bright, ringing guitar sounds on this album, there's some nice use of guitar effects. Parts of this album remind me of a less commercial-sounding U2 or even a more progressive Echo and the Bunnymen, and i mean this in a really good way. It feels like a lost classic from a band at the top of their game.

Great album. Have you heard Starfish?

Nope but it's certainly next on my list, i'm definitely going to dive further into this band's discography.

They're an awesome band, Starfish is my favourite and it'll be interesting to hear your thoughts.

Glad to hear you liked it! Another album I'd recommend by them is Sometime Anywhere. It's kind of a polarizing album among Church fans, but I like it lot because it goes in so many different directions. It's also worth noting that during this point in their career there were only two people in the band. I think that forced them to make some interesting decisions.

I've always found Starfish to be a bit of a mixed bag. Some of the songs on it are among the best stuff they've ever recorded ("Under the Milky Way Tonight", "Antenna", "Reptile", etc.) but some of them sound like total filler to me ("North, South, East and West", "A New Season").

Oh yeah it has filler. But I think when it hits it really hits. Under The Milky Way Tonight is one of the catchiest songs I have ever heard and it's one of my favourite songs to sing in the shower.

They seem to have quite a lot of albums. I'll probably try Starfish next and i might check out Sometime Anywhere some other time.

"Under the Milky Way Tonight" was on the Donnie Darko soundtrack, whenever i watched it i was always wondering who that song was by. That's a really good song.
