Babylon - Self-Titled (1978)

Bombastic, obscure/vintage prog. rock from Florida whose edges are chock-full of stark oddness. One of the best one-shot albums of the decade!

Portishead - Third (2008)

A fuming, electrified journey into the bleakness of one's own mind. Good stuff; makes me want to backtrack and see what all the fuss was over Dummy and their self-titled second album.

Pinch - Underwater Dancehall (2007)

I'm just going to stick to what I know from now on, this is an important crossroads. UK music, two step drums patterns, bass that goes vwong and shatters holes in the temporal fabric. I don't care what rockin' suburban johnnies you think are good right now, they're pointless, just give up. I'm right. Your existence is fragile. You're getting verrry sleepy... It's not that good really. Or is it?

3rd time getting this damn album, first I bought it on vinyl but sold it because It thought I was going to be moving to the UK and I didn't want excess baggage. Then after that fell thru I picked it up on CD (coincidentally from the same store I sold the record to) but I can't seem to find it now, so I'm downloading it.

I think the least said about that hip hop battle the better!

Am i the only one who believes Marquee Moon to be a little overrated?

Not at all, when I played it a few years after I bought it the effect was less dramatic. From a musician's stand point the lead guitar parts aren't anything spectacular, and the solo's lean a bit too far into the wanking category. I just remember the shock and awe I had when I first listened to it and how the album really changed my approach to the way I sit down and listen to music as well as when I write music.

i basically cant take someone seriously if they are over 18 and havent got that album, or even just the song itself. What are you playing at honestly

Do you rate 'Adventure'? It's weak for me but it's got this on it. And Tom Verlaine is the best thing since... the wheel. I hope he's in that poxy top guitarists thread somewhere

No, you're not the only one. It's kind of sad really, that Televison only released one album.
