Same goes for the 'what are you listening now?' thread.
I always look at all the postings and make a list of everything that's remotely interesting.
But most of the time I can't figure out what it is without listening.
So adding a genre to your posting might make it easier for everyone to 'filter' a bit.
Just a thought.
idk about this....the whole idea about filtering. Even if you see something you might like to download and give it a listen then try to figure out the genre on your own later on if you like it. If people start putting the label of the genre, I feel like others will just be close minded about it and pass it up because don't they like said genre when they may actually find an artist or two that they like in the genre just by listening to at least some tracks or the song.

Never paid much attention to him before, but I think it's right up my alley.

I really will not like screamo, hip hop, R&B or trance/dance anytime soon.
It really takes up a lot of time filtering the results.
And you know, I now sometimes even base wheter I add an album to my list, on the album cover.
That's even worse .

Currently downloading Eric B and Rakim's Follow The Leader. Paid In full is one of my favourite albums of all time so I've no idea why I didn't get this before. Too much music!

Also downed Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffitis Hits! I'm a sucker for Pink and his twisted lo-fi pop, everything he does is worth hearing. This is some rare cassette release I found on the brilliant Mutant Sounds blog so my ears are eagerly anticipating.

I hear you on the screamo bit. I'm open to a lot of things but screaming vocals just aren't for me.

what about those genres don't you like specifically?

Yes, it is horrible that you base your decision on whether to download or not just off of an album cover.

That's why I'd like to have a genre.
It's just too much not to filter .

And I do like screaming, but for me it's back street boy music with a lot of screaming most of the time. It's a bit too shallow, often.
And as far as rap, hip-hop and dance is concerned; It's too repetitive for me. Which is strange, as I like dub. But it has a certain groove. I don't know. It somehow really annoys me. A lot of hip-hop sounds really agressive, a lot of R&B is just a screaming mess of female vocal variations. But feel free to prove me wrong. I don't mind admitting I like something.
