Anomie Belle - The Crush (2011)

I really enjoyed her debut, it was a nice return to trip hop backed by live musicians. Her follow up is a bit more pop orientated, but it's still quite enjoyable and features a few decent guest slots. My only criticism I can think of so far is that she's trying too hard to sound like Elsieanne Caplette from Elsiane.

I like that. I really miss my cassettes. Sold 'em all away decades ago and I can't remember the last time I've even seen a cassette player.

I still have a few cassettes. I can't bring myself to throw them away even though I have replaced them all on CD or MP3. I still have the Fugazi E.P Margin Walker I bought back in 1989 and The Beatles red and blue albums on double play cassettes that my dad gave me around 20 years ago and he had them in the 70's! Can't get rid of them.

Out today. A lot of Opeth fans are not going to like this. It is virtually Prog Rock but I am really liking this regardless.

I figure it's a good Prog rock album, but not such a good Opeth release, if that makes sense. Nonetheless, "Lines in My Hand" is a kickass groove all the way around.

The Beta Band - Hot Shots II (2001)
Been meaning to check out these guys and I found these two albums on CD for €2 each so couldn't refuse. This album is good enough I guess, not quite as good as I thought it would be. It is a nice collision of indie, hip-hop and electronic and is not too far off some of Beck's material. It might grow on me with a few more listens.

The Beta Band - The Three EPs (1998)
This is a collection of their first three EPs Champion Veterans, The Patty Patty Sound and Los Amigos del Beta Bandidos. There's some good stuff here but a lot of it fails to grab my attention, and the fact that the compilation runs well over an hour doesn't help either. I might still grow to like it though.
