Interesting take on R&B that tries to push the genre towards something new. Abel Tesfaye has a great singing voice and really does Michael Jackson justice on his cover of "Dirty Diana". His songs really capture the truth behind the party scene and how tiring it can get to the point where it's painful, but the exit doesn't seem to exist anymore. Most of the songs deal with relationships and how Abel Tesfaye's relationships have changed since becoming a kind of icon in the public eye. Definitely has me anticipating his full length LP coming out later on this year.
Best thing they have put out BY FAR. Feels a lot more genuine and maintains interest.

Probably one of my favourite albums of all time.

The last album I bought (or atleast got for christmas), was Bad as Me, by Tom Waits. Definitely the coolest, most bad-ass (pun intended) album of '11.

Young Fathers - Tape One (2012)

Interesting mixtape from UK hip hop trio Young Fathers. It more a blend of hip hop and reggae, with an almost... psychedelic vibe hidden underneath. It's a little short, but it's free so I can't begrudge it too much.

Here's an official link if you're interested.

Heems of Das Racist has put out a MixTape. Apparently it's very good.

Sea Oleena - Sea Oleena

The Caretaker - Patience (After Sebald)

Fractured samples of Franz Schubert recordings, dating back to 1927. So fascinating.

Definitely getting that. Thanks for the post!

Did anyone else have Heems and Victor mixed up at first?
