Everything That Happens Will Happen Today - David Byrne & Brian Eno

Brian Eno's synths are so easily recognizable, and David Byrne's just a badass. This records fantastic.

"Country Life" by the Josh Sawyer Band. A new release by a great band.

Good to see there are a lot of buyers of music on here. The odd download for research is OK but I can't tolerate people who think stealing music is OK

David Bowie - The Next Day (2013)

There were quite a few albums that came out in the last two weeks that I've been trying to catch up on, but so far David Bowie's newest addition to his vast discography is by far my favorite. The man has not lost a step, and I was listening to his Berlin trilogy yesterday while driving through California and The Next Day is just as relevant to the music of today as his past efforts. I have a feeling this is going to end up in my top 10 for 2013.

Hypocrisy - End of Disclosure (2013)

I really don't go into a melodeath album and expect to be blown away, but I do at least expect to be entertained for 40+ minutes, and that's exactly what this album does. It's not quite as heavy as their previous album and their content is a little more blunt than before. It would be nice if they eventually released an "excellent" album, but I can settle for just being entertained. Not everyone needs to reinvent the wheel from album to album, but I know how talented Peter Tägtgren is and I just want to see him really push himself to do something new.

DOWNFALL OF GAIA - EPOS (2010)
After really developing a soft spot for their 2012 release Suffocating in the Swarm of Cranes, I had to go backwards and listen to their debut release. On first listen it isn't quite as impactful but is another strong atmospheric, sludgy, post-metal record.

LIGHTNING - LIGHTNING (1970)
As far as I am aware this is the one studio album proper of an overlooked part of the American psych rock scene of the late 60's and early 70s. I think theres another album of material recorded in the late 60s that I may have to get on, but this one was a very good, bluesy record.

THE ZOO - PRESENTS CHOCOLATE MOOSE (1968)
Given the 60s kick I have been on these past two days, I just had to re-visit this one again. This record is right up there with the likes of the 13th Floor Elevators debut as one of my absolute favourite psych rock records of the era. A band together only two short years, guitarist Howard Leese would then go on to play in Heart and this is the only full-length documentation of their existance.

The album is wonderfully produced, especially in comparison to some other albums released around this time, features some of the best vocals of any 60s psych record I have ever heard, and in places displays some Standells-like proto-punk. I don't know how much of an influence this album was on anyone or anything, but I know I would need to consider the performance of certain favours to the right people to be able to afford a copy of this on vinyl, on the rare occasion one is listed.

If you find a copy of Lightning that isn't a vinyl rip and doesn't skip then could you PM me to, uh, tell me about it?

Also, you'll find the Downfall album on Spotify. The follow-up isn't on there, but it is the better record.
