Yea, I've been going through a Led Zeppelin phase recently. I also bought Presence and In Through the Out Door a while ago. III is a great album, and very underrated. The whole album except for the closer is really good. My favorite from it has to be Since I've Been Loving You, because I'm with you, I like the bluesier styled music.

A superb compilation of early recordings by the father of psychobilly, the late, great, Hasil Adkins.

Sex, hot dogs, fat women, chicken, decapitation, more sex, more hot dogs, more fat women, more chicken, more decapitation. With an occasional top-40 rock cover song thrown in between all the sex, food and mayhem.

Kagoule - Urth (2015)
This band from Nottingham UK has a 90s alternative vibe to them, without sounding mainstream if that makes any sense. There's some detectable indie/DIY in there. Solid and well-produced album.

Dan Melchior's Broke Revue - Lords of the Manor (2015)
I've heard one other album from this guy/band, 2002's Bitterness, Spite, Rage, & Scorn which didn't do much for me after one listen. This one is more appealing to me. Punk blues, synth punk, post-punk, so says RYM.

Alex Calder - Strange Dreams (2014)
This made it to my queue as it was re-issued by Captured Tracks this year, despite its original release in May of 2014. The left is the original cover, right is the re-issue. It reminds me a bit of Jacco Gardner at times, with it's psychedelic vibe. RYM also has it listed as Hypnagogic pop and lo-fi. Can't argue that, and I've been enjoying it. I do like the Captured Tracks cover better than this one though.

Nice indie/psych pop album. I've played it quite a bit, though I don't really know what else to say about it.

Beirut - No No No (2015)
Not bad. Girlfriend got the limited blue LP, pleasant enough while hanging around the house or driving. Not better than The Rip Tide.

Diät - Positive Energy (2015)
German "real" post-punk revival band, this is their debut LP after a couple of nice singles. Recommended if you like Total Control, who they have toured with.

Ghetto Ghouls - Collisions (2015)
Real good Texan garage punk. I got their debut last year and it was alright, this one is much better. Though I do need to revisit that debut now.

Battles - La Di Da Di (2015)
Another groovy Battles album that benefits from the lack of chipmunks. Kinda feels like more of the same, but it's well produced and I don't have an issue with it. Time will tell how much play it gets and if it grows into something that doesn't feel so much like more of the same. I need to revisit Gloss Drops, which was quite good.

Salad Boys - Metalmania (2015)
Some Kiwis making jangly indie pop. The album is somewhat varied, and I'm not sure to what extent I like it at this point. It's certainly easy to listen to, but a little less challenging than I would like. For fans of The Feelies, Real Estate, and Guided by Voices.

Ought - Sun Coming Down (2015)
Liking this one a lot more than their debut, mostly due to the vocals not making me cringe so much, or at all in this case. Only played it twice so far and it still has some ways to go before it fully sinks in, but it's solid.

Passenger Peru - Light Places (2015)
I've played this twice but it's varied to the point that I can't recall what it sounds like as a whole. It's definitely an Indie Rock album, but some songs are a bit more experimental and some instrumental and go beyond indie rock. One song in particular seems like a hypnotic track you'd find on a late 80s My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult album ("Better Than the Movies"). In a way the album goes back to the more original and unique indie rock of the 90s and early 2000s, as opposed to the overly folky recent trend of what we call indie rock. Think Grandaddy, Deerhunter, Robert Polard, etc. It's noisy and not trying to stick to any specific formula. Worth checking out.

Doubting Thomas Cruise Control - Remember Me John Lydon Forever (2015)
This album sounds very much like Pavement, or at least Stephen Malkmus. If you like Pavement you might like this or you might hate it for sounding too much like Pavement. I like it alright, and you might too, but it doesn't get many points for originality. It's mainly the voice, it's not like the songs sound like specific Pavement rip-offs or anything. Their name sucks though, as does the typography on the cover.

Woolen Men - Temporary Monument (2015)
One of my favorite albums this month. The Portland, OR trio rocks out some Feelies- and Wire-influenced college radio punk rock. The 30 minute album packs a nice punch. I saw them live last Sunday evening and unfortunately they weren't drawing a big crowd. I mean, there weren't even 20 people there and they weren't even the only band playing. I asked one of the guys when I was purchasing the LP if they were drawing bigger crowds in Portland and he said not really, nobody cares about the Woolen Men. That's sad.

Dope Body - Kunk (2015)
I first heard of these guys in 2011 when they released Nupping, a pretty interesting noise/post-hardcore album. Their 2012 album Natural History was good but more of the same, and I skipped last year's Lifer. I'm not sure what made me take interest in their new one, probably the fact that I'm always looking for new things to add to my queue despite its massive size, but I'm glad I did. There's something more unique about this one. Still noise/post-hardcore, but there's something in the details that's given it more staying power. Is it the slight experimentation between tracks? Are they just slightly more melodic without losing their DIY sound? Whatever it is, I think I like this most of the 3 I've heard.

Primitive Parts - Parts Primitive (2015)
Punk, garage punk, something like that. Reminds me a bit of Sauna Youth with its tempo and youthfulness, and Parquet Courts on the more interesting songs like "Troubles", "Being There", and "Rented Houses". Pretty good.

Self Defense Family - Heaven Is Earth (2015)
I had this June release in my queue already but was prompted to listen to it based on a post-punk thread here. I've played it twice and enjoy it but it'll require some more spins to wrap my head around. It falls somewhere between post-hardcore and emo with some post-punk in there somewhere.

Radioactivity - Silent Kill (2015)
Punk. Rock. I don't know much about this band but this is their second album and a couple of the members were in a band called The Marked Men prior to this, and I have not heard them. This album prompted me to exclaim "punk rock is awesome" as my Facebook status last week. Doesn't mean this is the best punk rock I've ever heard, far from it, but it's fun and had that good energy of non-pop punk, just good punk rock. I don't think it'll ever make a list of my favorite albums but it's good.

Kurt Vile - b'lieve i'm goin (deep) down... (2015)
The "(deep)" is for the deluxe edition, which includes a third LP with 6 additional tracks - 5 on the third LP, and the title track at the end of the second LP. Strangely the title track is not on the standard edition of the album. Additionally, I received a bonus one-sided 7" containing the bonus track, a little extra sent out with some of the pre-orders. The sound quality is very good and the material good, but a bit less engaging for me than his previous album. One positive is that (not including the bonus material) it is shorter than his last album which despite being very good, had some songs that went on a little too long. "Pretty Pimpin" is the stand-out track, wish it had more in the same vein but I'm pretty sure the album will continue to deliver.

Heat Dust - Heat Dust (2015)
Another new band doing some "real" post-punk revival. These guys are from New Orleans and I wasn't too impressed with the album on first listen, but today's follow-up listen proved more interesting.
