Has something to do with this, which is just part of what this concept album is about.

NP: My newly-and-proudly-acquired copy of Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles & There Will Come Soft Rains read by Leonard Nimoy. Favorite tales of my childhood.

While I usually haunt used and rare vinyl shops, this evening I popped into a store selling new pressings for a change and was astounded by what I saw. Every major release from the 80s and 90s, from shoegaze to slowcore to jangle/dream pop/baggy to goth to post-punk to alternative and indie - every title I could think of had been reissued for ~$25 each.

Grabbed Cocteau Twins' Heaven or Las Vegas and put a stack of titles on hold for tomorrow.

Yeah, vinyl's made a comeback due to twenty-something white kids with too much money. Even the chainiest of the chain music stores have vinyl sections. It would be great if the clientele didn't make me wanna punch somebody.

The Barnes and Noble I work at is one of six stores that has a used book section. Our is the largest and we're the only one that has used vinyl. You'd be surprised by the clientele. You'd think it was hipster white kids. They're like 5%. The rest of them are just f*cking weirdos and old fellas.

Innerspaceboy, you should make a trip one day down to Paramus and visit. You might find some cool sh*t.

TBF that's Barnes and Noble. Old people actually go to bookstores. I doubt the clientele at an FYE is the same. But what kind of ****ing weirdos are we talking about? I'm always looking for good crazy people stories.

I've told these stories before. B&N is without a doubt a lunatic haven. Go to one with a cafe on a Saturday night and see what I mean.

You aren't a true hipster if you buy your records from FYE or Barnes & Noble. Go to the local independents, ****ing poseurs.
