So far I think I prefer Alopecia and Elephant Eyelash.

O man, you don't get it then. No offense - it's an understandable view.

Here's mine - I don't usually go for uptempo breaks but this is pretty good..

Ha, I clearly don't. I do like it, and I'll give it a few more listens, but just on a first listen the others are preferable.

North Mississippi Allstars - Hernando
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA240_.jpg

Saw this for pretty cheap as I was Christmas shopping today and picked it up. Just really good Blues/Rock. I'd heard a few of these songs before on the Sirius blues channel...

Amazon describes it pretty well:
"Combine the fatback guitar tone of Eric Clapton during his Cream days with the slap-back rhythms of the delta, and you’ve got the spontaneous combustion that fires through the best of Hernando."

Not many bands can reach that Hawkwind vibe without resorting to caricature but this is truly great. Middle track 'The Night' is 16 minutes of Psychedelic bliss.

Industrial art-punk via Los Angeles, supposedly influenced by everything I love (Glenn Branca, PIL, The Pop Group, Suicide, Throbbing Gristle) and a contemporary to Blixa Bargeld's musical retinue (aka Einsturzende Neubauten). Consider my interest tickled.

Tragic Figures is a fantastic album.

lucifer_sam 12-19-2009 06:51 PM

i've been told Ceremonial is better, so my hopes are pretty high for this.

Urban Hat€monger ? 12-19-2009 06:58 PM

I never got Ceremonial, I got the one they did after that.

I don't think I liked it as much as the debut.
