I'm actually really disappointed in this album, maybe it's because I don't care for 80s pop, but the synth and cheesy piano stuff got old really fast for me. I have to give it a few more chances though.

Honestly I'll never be a Rush fanboy, as part of the style is kind of offputting, but at the same time I appreciate some of the things they do, so I keep listening. Yeah, I know, I have a weird relationship with that band.

"Ghost Time is Ken Hyder, Z'EV, Andy Knight. This is a unique trio, fusing tastes of ambient and drone with spices of neofolk and jazz into Dead Jazz. A true witch's brew where everything is of the moment. As a group they allude to traces of greatly diverse influences and traditions. Bass lines are drawn from the Ceol Mor - the ancient tradition of Scottish Pibroch, the music of laments. Ken's vocals use elements of Canntaireachd, a vocalisation of bagpipe playing, as well as Khoomei, a Siberian form of overtone singing. Z'EV uses alto and baritone rolmos - Tibetan ritual cymbals which generate a rich range of overtones - and Ken uses tenor rolmos. So I must be rich for being a YES man.

I just watched Jon Anderson on AXS doing this show with some kid symphony orchestra and choir. Not sure how old it was but it was a lil' weird hearing those YES songs done that way. The production could have used Steve Howe. However it was cool seeing how much fun the kids had playing his songs.

Oh right...the thread. Last album both downloaded and listened to is Tempest by Bob Dylan. If you are a Dylan fan and haven't heard it yet and have been enjoying his renaissance of the last 15 years you won't be disappointed.

Haha, indeed, if not in monetary measures. Yes is one of the best bands ever, so it's hard to compete against them. I've not heard about that recent Jon Anderson thing. Frankly, Yes did most of their great work before 1975, so I'm not checking out every little new thing.

Oh, and Tempest is indeed quality stuff. Can there be bigger opposites than Yes and Bob Dylan, by the way? ^_^

Justthefacts

belle & Sebastian's most experimental. It's hard to digest at first, but it definitely gets better with patience.
