Skintight shirt with sleeves that cut off halfway to the elbow, tight pants, black midlength hair... you can't tell me that everyone dresses like that, or that you could see that guy on the street and not think "emo kid."

Most of those kids don't dress like that lol. They don't around here anyway. I've never lived anywhere else so I can't say for sure about where you may live but only the kids who go to see norma jean or any number of mosh band in VA dress like that. I'm not saying none of them do. But they are definetly few and far between.

I accidentally went to a screamo show once and I'm pretty sure everyone was dressed like that.

But whatever, I was just trying to clear up a misinterpretation, I could care less about what's trendy and what's not.

It's called a fitted tee. And the shirtsleeves cut off halfway to the elbow because that's what's supposed to happen when you wear one. The pants aren't that tight, either. I guess you wear your pants really loose, but that looks to about the right fit for a pair of pants.

If it weren't for the hair, which I'll admit is slightly trendy (I say slightly because aside from the color it's really just an average guy's haircut), I probably wouldn't even notice him walking down the street. He looks pretty normal to me.

And how the hell do you "accidentally" go to a Screamo show?

I was at the beach... there was one night club, one show all week, and I didn't recognize any of the bands that were playing. So I went.

Dying your hair black wasn't exactly invented by scenesters, and I wouldn't consider that scene either.

No shit, Sherlock, but that's who it's associated with these days. How many blonde scenesters do you see? And have you really never heard someone call someone else "emo" for dying their hair black? Yes, it is commonly associated with that scene.

How many blonde goths have you seen? I don't walk around calling people goth if they have black hair or emo. I know tons of people who have dyed black hair and don't dress it at all, you can have dyed black hair and not look either. Just because his clothes kind of fit the bill and he has dyed black hair doesn't make him an "emo kid". I wouldn't consider it scene, dying one half of your bangs yes, cutting the back shorter then the front yes, but just dying it black? Nah, and people call someone else "emo" for tons of reasons, it doesn't hold much ground.

If you re-read my original post you'll see that I agree that he doesn't look like an "emo kid," but given the context I would say that yes, the black hair thing is "emo" in this case.
