The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, and the subsequent tour, is all you need to know.

I'm not arguing. In case it's not become obvious over the past weeks - I freaking love Bowie.
I'm just really curious what you mean. His themes, concepts, stage persona - no doubt innovative and groudbreaking.
Actual musical innovations? I can't really think of any.

Agreed. But he sure did make a simple 3 chord song sound amazing.

Well thats what I was talking about. Was always careful to add "musical" before "innovation" in this thread.
And yeah, he sure did.

Heroes is sort of proto-shoegaze, so there's that, though that's mainly Fripp's doing. His innovations were more in the way music is presented, which is arguably just as important.

Kendrick Lamar does nothing for me. I find his voice and delivery to be slightly annoying, everything else is mediocre. Don't get all the excitement.

ADHD is a great song but after that it's already yawnsville.

Same with ASAP Rocky with Purple Swag.

Going further back Luscious Jackson did the same thing with Daughters of the Kaos

You honestly think the production on GKMC and TPAB is mediocre?

I can totally imagine you curling up in a little angry ball right now.

It's well done I guess, but it doesn't knock me off my socks at all.
I'm not saying he's **** or something. I'm not deep enough into hip-hop to make any kind of definitive judgement. He just bores me very fast.
Same with Kanye btw.
