I'm still waiting for someone in hip-hop to just blow me away in sheer melodic musicality prowess like Nujabes did when he was alive. Kendrick and Freddie Gibbs are gaining ground though.

You should try CunninLynguists, The Roots, Quasimoto and Shape of Broad Minds. But very little comes close to Nujabes when it comes to melody.
