The heavy guitar riffs are more Stoner/Desert Rock. Metal is the only thing that uses guitarmriffs. I guess the reasoning for calling Qotsa "Metal" is that if a guitar player uses a fuzz or a distorton pedal like n it's Metal.

QOTSA are the type of band were each one of there songs sounds some what different from track to track .. that's what makes them special

like for example compare a song like "No one knows" to The Vampyre Of Time And Memory

I'm lost at what Norg is saying... he is saying that they aren't heavy metal. But then he says there's a difference between heavy metal and metal. But this whole time we've been saying metal...
