Either way, I don't think he's trying to describe the band as metal as a whole, which I think is where some of the confusion is coming from.
I know. It may have been confusing the way I was saying it but I was talking about the first three albums in my statements.

Basically. Then when you bring subgenres into it, it just creates hell.

Well i'm inclined to agree with you as well since I'm not as big of a fan of QOTSA as you and Blank are, but both sides bring up both points. In the end, its really just an opinion, which is the point of this thread, I suppose.

You clearly need to listen to more black metal, doom metal, stoner metal, sludge metal, and early death metal.

Ki, is right. I'm not calling them a metal band. I think everything after those first three albums is rock. One thing though people keep saying is that I only think that because of the heavily distorted guitars. But listen to the drum work, it's loud and heavy hitting. Listen to the bass and how it goes into the sound. It creates, what in my opinion is a pretty metal sound.

Sure, to a point. I wouldn't call QOTSA metal, but they toe the line, so I'm not going to get uppity if someone else does. Every artist doesn't toe every line though.

QOTSA - Hard rock, stoner rock, hip shaking boogie woogy make you stand up and dance rock. Not metal/

They don't have song structure out of prog. They are nothing like it.
