I'm old enough not only to remember CDs being "the new thing" (to say nothing of minidiscs - don't ask) but also to remember when records ran at 78 rpm and if you dropped them they just shattered like glass. I'm sure our younger members won't understand a word of what I just said.

My first record player actually had a 78 speed on it. As a kid, I used to get a kick playing records at 78 rpm and then take it all the way down to 16 2/3rpm (yeah it had that speed on it too. )

Nothing like hearing Sabbath at 78 or ELO at 16!

Did you often make the mistake of forgetting to change the speed when you switched from album to single or vice versa? That was always happening to me.

I have a pretty big collection of MDs and actually listen to them regularly.
