Strip away the context and it still hold up when applied to Metallica's golden age. I could see making a case for later Metallica being the Nickelback of metal since they are basically an exceptionally lame and watered won version of their former selves.

Same could be said of any artist/band who overstays their welcome well past the "sell by" date.

Open challenge to Elphenor: I'll listen to any 3 albums you show me in any genre. In full. The only condition is that you will listen to 3 metal albums chosen by other MB member in full. Not even any chosen by me. Any other members who are willing to join me in listening to Elphs choies are welcome.
I really think you could change your view of metal if your just got shown the right things. Honestly.
