I take exception to Blur being in that list of overhyped bands, because they're actually good...

... otherwise I agree wholeheartedly with that post.... hehehehehe!

I'm really not a big fan of any of the Indie stuff coming out of the U.K. either and I think blur is really pretentious/

Green Day is good.. people seem to be split on this with the majority leaning towards hatred

That's all really; most of the bands I like/dislike are also hated/enjoyed by a lot of people here

Each to their own, but for my mind Blur had some darn good albums packed with some good humour rilled, fun songs and one really, really odd gathering of noises (13)... they may be pretentious, but I like pretentiousness to some degree...

But the res of the big hyped British bands do kinda suck...

Vikingcore, ancient egyptiancore and dinosaur core are actual musical subgenres...
(dinosaur core is Barney's music, of course...)

agreed, but...
What about British Sea Power or The Artic Monkeys?
I mean, you can tell right off the bat by their name that they come from the UK or some place north - respectively.

The Arctic Monkey's self titled isn't a bad album and "I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor" is a cool song, but it's really nothign extraordinary like it's being made out to be.

In regards to the British Power Sea, I haven't heard much about them media-wise but they are just a little bit to...alternative, maybe? for me.But obviously these two bands enjoy making music, so power to em', It's just I don't think they are anything special.
