Probably time. I'd say silence itself isn't really infinite only because it's the absence of sound and absence being infinite is oxymoronic to me. The conditions that are required for silence to exist in the first place can be infinite. Or maybe the list of things that make silence an impossibility is what's infinite. I'm not exactly married to that idea though, did you have a point that you were leading into?

Do you still stand by that Lansky opinion?

As far as communicating Cage's philosophy through music, yes. Most people will need an explanation to understand what 4'33" accomplishes (an explanation that Cage verbalizes brilliantly), but Lansky's music speaks for itself.

But Lansky watered down Cage’s ideas. Isn’t that like saying screwdrivers make vodka more palatable? Which isn’t wrong but (and I know I don’t have to defend Cage to you) a composition like HPSCHD said what needed saying. And Lansky is in a class with like Morton Subotnick and Cage is with Schoenberg.

Like you can’t out Cage Cage. And communicated to whom?

Cage brought the message.

This isn’t a hostile comment but I feel like you were probably listening to Homebrew (maybe on LSD) and got a little carried away with it.

Ugh, idolatry.

Lansky's music communicates to the listener.

Cage's ideas were very abstract when you isolate the music and try to get the message from it. Lansky put that message right in your face--"watering it down" by implementing rhythm is beside the point.

Cage is obviously the more innovative and creative of the two. I still stand by what I posted about Homebrew.

It’s correct to idolize Cage. He’s FF16 all time. He’s your god too.

Lansky's a'rite. If Cage had lived to collaborate with Ke$ha we'd have gotten a nice taste of the apocalypse.

And a glorious hell it would have been.

No, actually I'd like you to just go away.

Absolutely! You can miss me with the circular reasoning though.
